The final match of the six-nation tournament will begin at 2:45 pm (Bangladesh time).
A day before the title winning battle, Bangladesh skipper Mahedi Hasan on Friday said, “Our target is to be the champions and we are focusing on it.”
The young booter Mahedi expressed high hopes to put the best effort to beat Pakistan and bring the trophy to Bangladesh to make the country proud.
“It’s the time we will take the trophy home. We’ll even put our life on the line to beat Pakistan,” Mahedi added.
The captain insisted that Bangladesh could not be satisfied after a 4-2 win against strong side India in the semifinal, adding that the semifinal win was a past and what lies ahead is the final against Pakistan.
“We could not celebrate the win against India as time didn’t arrive yet. We haven’t achieved our goal which is nothing but the champions’ trophy,” said the cautious captain.
The Red and Greens played a terrific match on Thursday morning and beat neighbouring India by 4-2 on penalties after 1-1 draw in the stipulated time of the first semi-final.
The opponents Pakistan’s players, however, are on upbeat after a 4-0 win against host Nepal in the second semifinal.
Earlier, Bangladesh emerged Group ‘A’ champions with all-win record to reach the semifinals after defeating Nepal by 2-1 goals in the last group match and the Maldives by 9-0 goals to start their campaign with a hat-trick by Nihad Jaman.
