6 robbers held in Cox’s Bazar
Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) detained six robbers along with arms from Maheshkhali channel in Maheshkhali upazila of Cox’a Bazar district Friday midnight.
The detainees are Nezam Uddin, Shakil, Sazzad, Sujon, Manik and Omar Faruk of the upazila.

Tipped off, a team of Rab-15 conducted a drive in the area and detained the robbers along with three guns and 11 bullets, said Senior Assistant Director of Rab-15 Abu Salam Chowdhury.
The elite force members detained them when they were taking preparation to loot valuables from a fishing trawler in Sonadia Channel of the Bay of Bengal, he said.

5 held over rape of 2 indigenous girls in Mymensingh
Five men have been arrested in connection with the rape two Garo girls at Haluaghat upazila in Mymensingh.
The arrestees are Shorif Mia,20, from Katolmari village, Mizanur Rahman,22, and , Abdul Hamid, 19, from Katabari village, Mia Hossain,20, and Rukon Mia,21, of Kochuakura village in the upazila.
Of them, Abdul Mia was arrested as a suspect while others were accused in the case filed by the victims, said police.
Md Ahmar Uzzaman, District Superintendent of Police, said two teams of Detective Branch arrested the five people from different districts on Friday night.

On December 27, some men picked up the two indigenous girls while they were returning to their home after attending a wedding progrmame at night.
They took them to a forest at Katabari village and raped them.
On December 30, a rape case was filed at Haluaghat police station accusing 10 people.

Four suspected Rohingya militants held
Four suspected Rohingya militants were arrested by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) from the deep forest on the border of Bandarban and Cox’s Bazar districts on Friday.
The arrestees have been identified as Mohammod Nur (32), Nazimullah (34), Md Aman Ullah (23), Md Khairul Amin (19), RAB-15 said in a statement.

Following a tip-off that some Rohingya men had been staying in the forest adjacent to Balukhali-Naikhyangchari road, RAB-15 increased surveillance in the area from the late hours of Thursday.
On Friday, the RAB members spotted two men carrying wood on their heads and arrested all four members of the group as they tried to escape, the statement said.

3 held in the city for abduction and murder
The Detective Branch has arrested three individuals for abduction and murder and recovered a body in the city.
The deceased was identified as Nurul Amin of Darussalam area.
The arrestees are Md Ariful Islam, Md Imran Hossain and Md Yamin Mollah.
Mirpur zonal team of DB arrested them on Tuesday during separate raids in Darussalam, Mirpur Model Thana and Shahali areas.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Mirpur zonal team Md. Saiful Islam said that on January 2, at 11.30 pm, Nurul Amin went missing from the Darussalam area. His uncle was called from his phone asking for Tk 1 crore ransom money. The victim's uncle filed a kidnapping case at Darussalam police station in this regard.

The Mirpur zonal team on the basis of shadow investigation tracked the abductors and arrested them. But they were too late to save Nurul Amin.
During the primary interrogation it was learned that the arrestees were acquaintances of the victim. They called him to Imran's rented house in Jahurabad area of Darussalam police station and suffocated him to death. The body was then dumped in the Jahurabad dam area.

Police later recovered the body according to the arrestees’ statement.
4 mugging gang members held in the city
Members of RAB have arrest 4 members of a mugging gang from the city’s Khilgaon area.
The arrestees are Md Rifat, 20, Md Dipu, 19, MD Santo Siddik, 22, and Md Pervaz.
They were arrested on Sunday at around 9.40 pm over a tip-off, read a RAB media release.

During the arrest operation four switch-gear knives, five pieces of yaba and 25 gm marijuana was seized.
During the primary interrogation the gag members confessed that they have been actively mugging mobile phones, jewelry, cash money etc from the people in the Khilgaon, Rampura, Banashee area for a long time.
Woman raped by 3 in Chuadanga; 2 held
Two men have been arrested in connection with the alleged gang-rape of a housewife in the Nilamore area under ward no 3 of Chuadanga municipality, police said Tuesday.
The arrestees have been identified as Rubel Hossain, 32, and Md Nazim Hossain, 30. However, Billal Hossan, another accused, is absconding.
According to the case statement, the three picked up the housewife while she was returning home around 8pm on Saturday. They took her to a mango orchard near the brick field on Buzruk Gargari Madartala Road in the municipality and raped her.

Later, they took the housewife to her house at 12am.
Mohammad Mohsin, officer-in-charge of Chuadanga Sadar Police Station, said the woman filed a police complaint against the trio on Monday night.
Police arrested them from the area soon, the OC added.

Prime accused in Kishoreganj businessman murder case held
Rapid Action Battalion in a drive arrested the prime accused in a case filed in connection with the killing of a businessman from Laxmipur district.
The arrestee was identified as Zakir Hossain, 36, a muazzin of mosque in Narsingdi’s Monohordi upazila.
On October 3, Ramiz Uddin, 65 of Monohardi upazila in Narsingdi district was found dead near Katabaria Daukia mosque in Kishoreganj.
A case was filed with Kishoreganj Model Police Station.

Tipped off, a team of Rab conducted a drive in the area and held Zakir Hossain from a mosque in Laxmipur.
After primary interrogation, Rab came to know that, Zakir killed Ramijuddin in a bid to grab his money as Ramijuddin, a cattle trader, said a press release of Rab.

After the alleged murder Zakir went into hiding.
Three held for killing former Moheshkhali pirate Alauddin
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Monday night arrested three people, including the prime accused, in connection with the killing of former pirate Alauddin of Moheshkhali.
The arrestees have been identified as Rafikul Islam Prakash Mamun (28), the prime accused, Md Rifat (23) and Ayub Ali (40).
A RAB-15 team arrested Mamun and Rifat around 7pm during a raid in the Faitong area under Lama police station limits in Bandarban, following a tip-off.

Alauddin was nabbed later from the Pahartali area of Cox’s Bazar, after Mamun gave information about his whereabouts during interrogation, according to RAB.
On November 5, around 8pm some assailants killed Alauddin, 26, the former pirate, in the Chamiraghona Kalur bridge area of Kalamar Chara union in Cox’s Bazar.

The next day, Alauddin’s brother Sumon Uddin filed a complaint at the Moheshkhali police station. Followed by the complaint, police filed a murder case under penal code 302/34.
RAB members claimed to have recovered the guns used in the crime. "Efforts are on to arrest the other accused," an officer said.
Female drug peddler held in Chuadanga
Police have arrested a 60-year-old woman in Chuadanga on charges of peddling drugs. She was wanted in as many as 50 cases, cops said.
The arrestee has been identified as Shipra Begum,60, wife of late Babul Rahman, a resident of the district's Bujrukgorgori area. She was nabbed from the Buddhiman area on Wednesday.
Police said that Shipra used to smuggle various goods initially. Later she got into smuggling of drugs.

The first case for narcotics peddling was filed against her in 1991. As of today, 51 drug cases are lodged against her. She was also arrested a number of times earlier.
Officer-in-charge of Chuadanga Police Station, Mohammad Mohsin said that Shipra's arrest "is a big catch for us."
"In four of the 51 cases, she was sentenced to different jail terms. Her family members were also drug dealers," the OC said.
Man held with Tk 3.5 crore worth gold at Sylhet airport
Customs intelligence officials seized 6.148 Kg gold worth Tk 3.5 crore from a passenger coming from Dubai at Sylhet Osmani International airport on Monday.
The officials have recovered 38 bars and a disc of gold from Parendranath Dash, a resident of Nazirabad area in Moulvibazar sadar up[azila.

The airport authority said they found Biman’s BG-248 flight’s passenger Paresh’s movement at the airport suspicious and interrogated him.
At one point he confessed to carrying gold which was recovered from inside a juicer blender in his luggage.
Deputy Commissioner of airport’s customs Mohammad Al Amin said Paresh is currently under the custody of the authority and they are investigating how he got the gold.
