More than 72.8 million people have been infected with coronavirus globally and over 1.62 million of them died since the first cases were reported in December last year, according to data compiled by the Johns Hopkins University (JHU).

India's Covid-19 tally reached 9,735,850 on Thursday while the death toll mounted to 141,360 according to the JHU data.
Brazil has recorded the world's second-highest COVID-19 death toll, after the United States, and the third-largest caseload, after the United States and India.
The country registered on Thursday 53,453 new cases, raising the nationwide tally to 6,728,452, the Health Ministry said.
Meanwhile, 836 deaths were recorded over the past 24 hours, taking the national count to 178,995.
Infections have been reported in more than 191 countries and territories since the first cases were identified in China in December 2019.
