Debutant Ellis' hat-trick restricts Bangladesh to 127
The 26-year-old Australian fast-bowler, Nathan Ellis, created history against Bangladesh Friday in the third T20 by registering the first-ever T20 hat-trick by a debutant.
In the last over of the first innings of the match, Nathan removed Mahmudullah Riyad, Mustafizur Rahman and Mahedi Hasan off three consecutive deliveries. It was the third hat-trick in T20 by an Australian bowler.
Riding on his hat-trick and some superb efforts by the other bowlers, Australia managed to restrict Bangladesh to 127/9 in 20 overs at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. Mahmudullah top-scored with 52 off 53 balls.

Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bat first but had to settle for a small total as the openers failed to lay a good foundation. Mohammad Naim fell to Josh Hazlewood for one and Soumya Sarkar to Zampa for two.
In the third wicket stand, Mahmudullah and Shakib Al Hasan added 44 of 36 balls.
However, Shakib fell to Zampa in the first ball of the ninth over as he started to accelerate his innings.

After the all-rounder's dismissal, Afif Hossain came to the middle and added 19 off 13 balls with one four and one six before being run out.
Also, Shamim Hossain, Nurul Hasan Sohan and Mahedi Hasan failed to do well with the bat.
For Australia, Nathan Ellis took three wickets; Josh Hazlewood and Adam Zampa grabbed two wickets each.

Rain delayed the toss and start of the third T20 of the five-match series between Bangladesh and Australia Friday.
The toss was scheduled to take place at 5:30pm, but the weather ensured that the pitch at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium was covered and the toss was delayed.
Bangladesh won the first two matches of the series. So, the third match is a chance for the Tigers to seal the series with two matches to spare.

In both the matches, Bangladeshi bowlers were superb. Mustafizur Rahman and Shoriful Islam troubled the visitors along with the spinners.
So far, Mustafizur has taken five wickets in this series – the highest for any bowlers of both teams.

Before this series, Bangladesh faced Australia four times in the shorter format of international cricket but failed to win any match.
The Tigers' wait came to an end on August 3 when Nasum Ahmed bagged four wickets and guided his team to a 23-run win.

Bangladesh beat Australia in the second T20I by five wickets on Wednesday, the hosts’ back-to-back win in the series at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium with eight balls to play.
With this win, Bangladesh took 2-0 lead in the five-match T20I series.
To chase down the target of 122 runs, Bangladesh needed 32 runs in the last five overs. Afif Hossain and Nurul Hasan Sohan finished the job in style.
Afif hit Josh Hazlewood for a four off the fourth ball of the 19th over and sealed the game. The left-handed batsman remained unbeaten on 37 off 31 balls hitting five fours and one six, while Sohan was also unbeaten on 22 off 21 balls.
In the sixth wicket stand, they added 56 runs off 44 balls.
Bangladesh suffered early setback as they lost both the openers inside the first two overs of the match. Soumya Sarkar disappointed once again with the bat, and Mohammad Naim couldn’t settle in.

While Mitchell Starc removed Soumya, Josh Hazlewood took the wicket of Naim. In the third-wicket stand, Shakib Al Hasan and Mahedi Hasan added 37 runs off 32 balls. They somewhat managed to control the early damage. But Shakib went out during the ninth over scoring 26 off 17 balls, and right after him Mahmudullah Riyad fell for a duck in the next over.
Back to back wickets pushed the hosts into trouble which deepened when Mahedi fell for 23 off 24 balls.
At the end of 15 overs, Bangladesh were batting at 90 for five with Nurul Hasan Sohan and Afif Hossain batting on 9 and 20 respectively. This pair has eventually guided the Tigers home.
Earlier, Australia have won the toss and opted to bat first in this match. Both the teams fielded an unchanged playing XI each.
Like the first match, Mahedi Hasan broke the first-wicket stand of the tourists removing Alex Carey. The delivery looked a simple one, but Alex miscued it and skied the ball. It was a regulation catch for Nasum Ahmed.
Mustafizur got his first reward persisting with slow deliveries when Josh Philippe failed to pick the line correctly and lost his leg-stump. Philippe was fragile in the first match and this time, he also failed with the bat.

Inside the power play, Australia scored 32 losing two wickets. In the next nine overs, they added 58 runs losing only one more wicket. But they never looked comfortable against the Tigers’ bowling lineup.
In the last five overs, Australia only managed 31 runs losing four wickets, with Mustafizur’s two wickets in two balls during the 18th over.
Bangladesh have won the first match by 23 runs. Nasum Ahmed took four wickets after Bangladesh posted 131 runs, and helped the Tigers register their first win against Australia in T20Is.
Mustafizur Rahman bagged three wickets for the hosts while Shorfiul Islam took two conceding 23 and 27 respectively.
The remaining matches of the series will take place at the same venue on August 6, 7 and 9.

It was a hot day in Dhaka, and the Australian players had to adapt to the new environment. Bangladesh, on the other hand, struck first with Mahadi Hasan's first ball of the innings. Bangladesh took two more wickets in the next two overs.
Skipper Mahmudullah Riyad deserves special praise for his decision-making. Riyad employed three spinners in the opening three overs, preventing the Australian top order from settling in the middle. Mahadi, Nasum, and Shakib all took wickets in their respective first overs.

Australia were under pressure after losing three wickets for only 11 runs in three overs. The in-form Mitchell Marsh and Captain Mathew Wade then took a cautious approach to rebuild the innings. They carried the total to 49 runs in the tenth over before Nasum Ahmed removed Wade with an ordinary delivery.
Things began to shift in Bangladesh's favor after the Wade-Mitchell partnership was broken. The bowlers started to put more pressure on the Australian batsmen by maintaining good line and length with the ball.
Australia had a chance till Mitchell Marsh remained at the crease. However, Australia's batting crumbled after Mitchell Marsh (45) was bowled by Nasum Ahmed in the 16th over. The left-arm orthodox spinner won the player of the match award after taking four wickets for only 19 runs.

In the end, Australia were bowled out for 108 runs in exactly 20 overs. Bangladesh successfully defended a low total against mighty Australia. Apart from the spinners, Bangladesh's pacers Mustafizur Rahman and Shoriful Islam bowled effectively as well. They each took two wickets in this match.
Earlier, Australia's stand-in skipper Mathew Wade opted to bowl first on a spin-friendly surface. Two spinners Adam Zampa and Ashton Agar were picked in Australia's playing XI. Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah Riyad recorded the highest 36-run partnership for Bangladesh in the third wicket. They pushed the total to 73 runs within 13th over. Shakib scored the highest 36 runs for Bangladesh before being bowled by Hazlewood in the 17th over.
Left-handed batsman Afif Hossain played an important 20-run knock in the death overs to assist Bangladesh set up a challenging total (131/7) to defend on a tricky surface. Josh Hazlewood was the best Aussie bowler in the match. He picked up 3 wickets for 24 runs.

Before this game, Bangladesh played four matches against the Aussies but failed to win any of them.
Australia won the toss and sent Bangladesh bat first, who have posted 131 for six in 20 overs. In reply, Australia tumbled for 108/10 in 20 overs.
