Bangladesh reports another Covid death, 239 cases
Bangladesh recorded another Covid-linked deaths with 239 fresh cases in 24 hours till Tuesday morning.
With the latest numbers, the total fatalities reached 29,308 while the caseload 2,007,870, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The daily case positivity rate slightly dropped to 4.34 per cent from Monday's 4.99 percent as 5,504 samples were tested.
The latest deceased was a man from Dhaka division.

The mortality rate remained unchanged at 1.46 percent. The recovery rate rose to 97.08 per cent from Tuesday's 97.06 per cent.
In July, Bangladesh reported 142 Covid-linked deaths and 31,422 cases, the highest death toll and cases in the last five months since March this year, as per DGHS.
Among the deceased, 57 were unvaccinated while seven received the first dose, 52 the second dose and 26 the third dose, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Besides, 34,901 patients recovered from the disease during this period.
Bangladesh reported its first zero Covid death on November 20 last year since the pandemic broke out here in March 2020.

Global Covid cases cross 555 million
The overall number of Covid cases has now surpassed 555 million amid a rise in new infections in Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Europe.
According to the latest global data, the total case count mounted to 555,233,865 and the death toll from the virus reached 6,362,437 Tuesday morning.
The US has recorded 89,567,321 cases so far and 1,043,372 people have died from the virus in the country, the data shows.

With 14,224 new cases in 24 hours, India recorded 43,532,788 new Covid cases, data released by the country's federal health ministry showed on Sunday.
Besides, 31 deaths due to Covid since Saturday morning took the total death toll to 525,223.
Covid in Bangladesh
Bangladesh registered 12 more Covid-linked deaths with 2,285 cases in 24 hours till Monday morning amid a rapid surge in new infections.
The fresh numbers took the country's total caseload to 1,980,974 and fatalities to 29,174, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The country last reported 13 Covid-linked deaths with 368 cases on March 5 this year.
The daily case positivity rate rose to 16.51% from Sunday’s 15.53% as 13,842 samples were tested during the period, said the DGHS.

Of the deceased, nine were men and three were women. Of them, nine were from Dhaka and one each from Chattogram, Khulna and Mymensingh divisions.
Of the 22 deaths reported from June 27 to July 3, some 72.7% received vaccine doses against Covid-19.
On Sunday, the country recorded two Covid-linked deaths with 1,902 new cases.
The mortality rate remained unchanged at 1.47%. The recovery rate declined to 96.36% from Sunday’s 96.44% as 482 patients recovered during this period.

The new figures took the country’s total death toll to 29,142 while caseload to 19,67, 274, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The country last reported 2,150 cases on February 19 with 13 deaths when the daily positivity rate was at 9 per cent.
The daily-case positivity rate slightly declined to 15.20 per cent from Sunday’s 15.66 per cent as 13,820 samples were tested during the period, said the DGHS.

The deceased included a woman and a man, both from Dhaka division.
On Sunday, the country recorded 1,680 cases with two deaths from Covid-19.
Of the five deaths reported from June 20 to June 26, some 77.8 per cent received vaccine against Covid-19 while 22.2 per cent did not.
Several of them had one or two comorbidities. Comorbidity means the simultaneous presence of two or more diseases or medical conditions in a patient.
The mortality rate remained unchanged at 1.48 per cent. The recovery rate declined to 96.93 per cent from Sunday’s 97.02 per cent as 179 patients recovered during this period.

Global Covid cases top 519 million
The overall number of Covid cases has surged past 519 million amid a rise in new infections in parts of the world.
According to Johns Hopkins University (JHU), the total case count mounted to 519,340,631 while the death toll from the virus reached 6,257,771 Thursday morning.

The US has recorded 82,227,294 cases so far and 998,739 people have died from the virus in the country, the data shows.
India's Covid-19 tally rose to 43,110,586 on Wednesday, with 2,897 new cases registered in 24 hours across the country, showed the federal health ministry's data.
Of the new cases, 1,118 were reported in Delhi. Currently, there are 5,471 active cases in Indian capital.
Besides, 54 deaths across the country due to the pandemic recorded since Tuesday morning took the total death toll to 524,157.
