BPL Football: Bashundhara Kings clinch title beating Sheikh Jamal 2-0
Brazilian duo Robinho and Fernandes guided Bashundhara Kings to clinch the 13-team Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football 2020-21 crown with four matches to spare beating three-time champions Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club by 2-0 goals at the Banglabandhu National Stadium here Monday.
With the day's victory, star studded Bashundhara Kings confirmed their 2nd BPL title securing 55 points from 20 matches. Their league crown will not hamper in case of conceding defeats in all the remaining four matches.
This is the 2nd major title for the Kings in the ongong season after winning the season' s curtain raiser meet Federation Cup Football. Kings Women's Football team also clinched the premier league football title few days back.

It will be a huge morale boost up for the Kings before participating this month's AFC Cup Football in the Maldives.
After the day's defeat, Sheikh Jamal DC out of the title race with their previous credit of 39 points from 19 encounters and joined the runners-up battle with six-time champions Dhaka Abahani Ltd, which bagged 40 points from 20 outings.
In the day's vital match, Brazilian forward Robson Robinho put the Kings ahead in the 20th minute utilising a Fernandes pass (1-0) while Brazilian midfielder Jonathon Fernandes sealed the fate of the match scoring the 2nd goal in the 62nd minute, off a Bishwanath pass (2-0).
With the day's feat, Robinho dominated the scorer list in the league scoring highest 19 goals.

In the day's other match, six times champions Dhaka Abahani Ltd advanced to the 2nd slot in the league table toppllng Sheikh Jamal DC crushing bottom placed Arambagh KS by 6-1 goals at the same venue Monday evening.
Jewel Rana made a hattrick for the traditional sky blue Dhanmondi outfit Abahani scoring three goals in the 19th, 21st and 90+1 minutes, Nigerian booter Sunday Chizoba, Faisal Ahmed Shitol and Sohel Rana netted one goal each for the winners in the 42nd, 68th and 88th minutes respectively .
Uzbek midfielder Dilshod Nazirov scored the consolation goal for Arambagh in the 79th minute .
After the match, Dhaka Abahani Ltd moved up to the 2nd slot collecting 40 points from 20 matches while mediocre Arambagh KS remained at bottom in the 13-team league and are struggling to avoid relegation securing five points from 19 encounters.
BPL Football: Ctg Abahani advance to 4th slot beating Uttara Baridhara 4-3
Coming from behind, Chittagong Abahani Ltd beat Uttar Baridhara Club by 4-3 goal in a keenly contested Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football '2020-21 match at the Kamalapur Stadium on Tuesday.
The 20th round 2nd phase league matches began Tuesday after a break of two weeks for the countrywide lockdown and also for Eid vacation.
With the day's hard-fought victory, the sky blue team from the port city of Chattagram advanced to the 4th slot in the league table toppling Dhaka Mohammedan SC securing 34 points from 19 matches.
Bashundhara Kings poised for their 2nd league crown as they comfortably dominated the league securing 49 points from 18 matches while Sheikh Jamal DC and Dhaka Abahani Ltd followed them distantly with 38 and 36 points playing 17 and 18 matches respectively.
Uttar Baridhara Club remained at the 10th place in the 13-team league with their previous credit of 15 points from 18 matches.

In the day's match, Uzbek midfielder Yevgeniy Kochnev put Uttar Baridhara Club ahead in the very 10th minute from a penalty (1-0).
Brazilian forward Nixon Brizolara leveled the margin in the 21st minute (1-1) and put Abahani ahead from behind scoring his 2nd goal in the 41st minute (2-1).
Nigerian booter Matthew Chinedu scored the 3rd goal for Abahani in the 50th minute (3-1) while local boy Rakib Hossain netted the 4th goal in the 59th minute which kissed the Baridhara net touching their Uzbek defender S Fozilov (4-1).
But, the match turned exciting when Uttar Baridhara's captain Sumon Reza and Papon Singh scored two successive goals in a span of 13 minutes in the 67th and 89th minutes respectively to make the match close (4-3).
In the day's other match, Rahmatganj MFS earned a 2-0 goal victory against Brothers Union Club at the Banglabandhu National Stadium here Tuesday afternoon.

After a barren first half, Ivory Coast booter Christ Remi scored first for Rahmatganj in the 49th minute (1-0) while Nigerian booter Felix Odili sealed the fate of the fate scoring the 2nd goal in the stoppage time (93rd minute) 2-0.
After the match, old Dhaka outfit Rahmatganj MFS moved to the 9th slot securing 18 points from 19 matches while the Gopibagh outfit Brothers Union now under relegation threat with 12th place collecting six points from 18 outings.
On Wednesday, league leader Bashundhara Kings will face Muktijoddha Sangsad KC at 4 pm at the BNS while Sheikh Russel KC will meet Arambagh KS also at 4pm at the Kamalapur Stadium here.
In the remaining 2Oth round matches, Dhaka Mohammedan SC will play Police FC at 4 pm on Thursday while Dhaka Abahani to play Sheikh Jamal DC also at 4 pm on Friday, both at the Banglabandhu National Stadium.
BPL Football resumes Tuesday
Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football 2020-21 will restart Tuesday after a break of two weeks, with two matches of the 20th round.
The decision was taken at an online meeting of the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) Professional League Management Committee Sunday evening, with BFF Senior Vice-President and committee chairman Abdus Salam Murshedy in the chair.
The meeting also decided to go ahead with the league despite Bashundhara Kings' Maldives tour this month. The Kings will visit the archipelagic state to play the group matches of the AFC Cup 2021.

The meeting also decided to complete the BPL by August 21.
Chittagong Abahani will play against Uttar Baridhara at 4pm at Kamalapur Stadium and Rahmatganj will face Brothers Union at 4pm at the Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS) Tuesday, according to the new fixture.
On Wednesday, league leader Bashundhara Kings will face Muktijoddha Sangsad at 4pm at the BNS and Sheikh Russel will play against Arambagh at 4pm at the Kamalapur Stadium.
In the remaining 20th round matches, Dhaka Mohammedan will play against Police FC at 4pm and Dhaka Abahani will face Sheikh Jamal at 4pm Friday at the BNS.

BFF Senior Vice-President and Professional Football League Management Committee Chairman Abdus Salam Murshedy informed the media about the federation's latest decision Sunday.
"Including the Bangladesh Army Stadium in Banani as a BPL Football venue is also on the cards," he said.

The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) announced a new BPL fixture for the 20th and 21st round matches Thursday night to restart the league today. However, the postponement came just 60 minutes before Friday's matches had been due to start.
The BFF today postponed the remaining second phase BPL matches saying, "We will keep everyone in the loop after reviewing the overall situation."

Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football 2020-21, which was scheduled to resume on Saturday (July 24) after the Eid break, has been deferred by six days.
The 20th round of the prestigious league will now begin on July 30.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the BFF Professional League Management Committee held Friday night.
Chittagong Abahani Ltd scheduled to play Uttar Baridhara Club at 4:pm at the Kamalapur Stadium while Rahmatganj MFS due to play Brothers Union Club at the same time at the Banglabandhu National Stadium here on Saturday.
BPL Football: Mohammedan thump Uttar Baridhara 4-1
Dhaka Mohammedan SC earned a 4-1 victory over Uttar Baridhara Club Saturday in the 13-team Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football 2020-21.
Despite the win at the Bangabandhu National Stadium, Mohammedan remained at the fourth spot in the league table, securing 32 points from 18 matches; Uttar Baridhara Club stayed at the ninth slot with 15 points from 17 encounters.

Amin Hakim Bappy put Mohammedan ahead in the 19th minute (1-0), while Sumon Reza restored parity for the Baridhara Club just five minutes later (1-1).
Mali forward Souleymane Diabate again put Mohammedan SC ahead in the 36th minute (2-1), while Anik Hossain made it 3-1 in the stoppage time of the first half (45+2 minute).
Yassan Quatching of Cameroon sealed the fate of the match scoring one more goal for Mohammedan in the 81st minute (4-1).

In Saturday's other match, Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society drew 1-1 with Bangladesh Police FC at the same venue in the evening.
Nigerian forward Felix Chidi Odili scored for Rahmatganj MFS in the 13th minute; Christian Kouakou of Ivory Coast restored parity for Police FC in the 26th minute from a penalty (1-1).
BPL Football to resume Wednesday
The remaining matches of the country's most prestigious soccer meet, the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football' 2020-21, will resume in Dhaka on Wednesday (July 14).
Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) earlier postponed the heavyweight league temportely from July 2 due to contineous rainfall, unplayable condition of grounds, weather forecast reports and for the countrywide lockdown for Covid-19.
Due to existing Covid-19 situation, all the BPL matches will now be held at two venues in Dhaka --Banglabandhu National Stadium and Fortis Football Club ground in Badda.

On resuming day (Wednesday) of BPL, Sheikh Russel KC will play Muktijoddha Sangsad KC at 4 pm at the Banglabandhu National Stadium here.
On the following day (Thursday), Sheikh Jamal DC will meet Saif Sporting Club at the same time and same venue.
Before Eid-ul-Azha, only two matches will be held at new venue --Fortis FC ground-- on July 17 and 19. Rahmatganj MFS will face Bangladesh Police on July 17 while Saif SC will encounter Arambagh KS on July 19.
The league will continue till July 19 and will resume again on July 23 after three-day break for Eid festival.

In the BPL, star studded Bashundhara Kings poised for their 2nd league crown as they are comfortably dominated the league table as lone unbeaten team securing 49 points from 17 matches, 13 points ahead of their neatest rivals Dhaka Abahani Ltd, which bagged 36 points from 17 encounters.
Meanwhile, the BCL Football '2020-21 already began here from Tuesday (July 13) .
Earlier, the BFF also postponed the Women's Football League and the 3rd Division Football League matches from Thursday (July 1) for the inclement weather and for countrywide lockdown for Covid -19.
BPL, BCL Football matches postponed
All the matches of the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) and Bangladesh Championship League (BCL) Football 2020-21 have been postponed.
Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) took the decision to postpone leagues Friday due to continuous rainfall in the capital and unplayable condition of the field. The BFF also considered the weather forecast while making the decision.

The fresh date and fixture for the remaining league matches will be announced later, said the federation.
Earlier, the BFF postponed the Women's Football League, and the 3rd Division Football League matches up to July 7 due to inclement weather and countrywide strict lockdown.

BPL Football: Bashundhara beat Mohammedan 1-0; maintain 100% unbeaten run
Title aspirant Bashundhara Kings extended their unbeaten run to 17 matches in the 13-team Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football after beating Dhaka Mohammedan 1-0 Wednesday.
As the hard-fought second phase match at the Bangabandhu National Stadium was about to end in a draw, Argentine forward Raul Becerra netted the match-winner for the Kings in the stoppage time (90+4 minute).

The Kings' Yeasin and Sujon of Mohammedan got red cards.
With Wednesday's win, star-studded Kings stayed at the top of the table with 49 points from 17 matches, 16 points ahead of their nearest rivals Dhaka Abahani who bagged 33 points from 16 encounters.

Mohammedan remained at the fourth slot with 29 points from 17 matches.
The day's other match between Brothers Union Club and Bangladesh Police ended in a goalless draw.
