What Bangladesh Cricket Fans Can Expect From Herath and Prince?
Bangladesh team arrived in Zimbabwe on Wednesday (30 June) to play a bilateral series that included Tests, ODI, and T20I. Bangladesh added two more newly appointed coaching staff for this tour. Sri Lankan Rangana Herath has been named as the spin coach, while South African Ashwell Prince has been appointed as the batting consultant. Bangladesh already have Russell Domingo as head coach, Ottis Gibson as pace bowling coach, and Ryan Cook as fielding coach. National team players should perform better on the international stage with this current coaching setup. This article discusses what Bangladesh cricket fans can expect from Herath and Prince.
Things Rangana Herath will be expected to do as Spin Coach
Former Sri Lankan international Rangana Herath has taken over as Bangladesh's spin coach from Daniel Vettori. He'll be in charge of the spinners until the T20 World Cup, which is set to begin in October this year.
One of the main obstacles with Daniel Vettori was language. Players had a hard time understanding his lessons despite having a translator on hand to help. Another important factor was the culture. Vettori wasn’t completely familiar with the culture and mindset of this part of the world. Sometimes he couldn't figure out what the players really wanted from him?
Read England Clinch Series Against Sri Lanka; Windies Stun South Africa in the First T20I
In such scenarios, Rangana Herath would be a lot better choice for coaching Bangladeshi fringe players. We've seen previously how Chandika Hathurusinghe transformed Bangladesh's national team and was able to get the best out of his players. He knew how to encourage players to perform at their best on the field because he understood their psyche.
Similarly, as a sub-continent player, Herath is fully acquainted with the mentality of the players and what motivates them to perform better on the field. Herath may give players a one-on-one lesson in which he can share his knowledge and properly advise them.

Herath may work with the upcoming talents who have the potential to represent Bangladesh in the near future. His presence would be extremely beneficial to the next generation of cricketers.
Bangladesh cricket fans hope that Herath would become more involved in the country's culture and offer his priceless insights into the country's raw talent. It will be beneficial for Herath as well if he succeeds.

Things Ashwell Prince will be expected to do as Batting Consultant
During his stint as a batting adviser for Bangladesh's national team, Neil McKenzie had a great time. Opener Liton Das openly admitted how Neil McKenzie helped him develop into a good batsman. For the Zimbabwe series, McKenzie's compatriot Ashwell Prince has been assigned to a similar role. BCB may extend his contract depending on how well he does on the tour.
How can Ashwell Prince impress the BCB and earn a long-term contract with the cricket board? First and foremost, Prince must dig into the root causes of Bangladesh's failure to perform as expected in the T20 format. Bangladesh are desperate for big hitters in the shortest form of the game. Unfortunately, no one has yet shown genuine potential, so the hunt continues.
Read UEFA Euro 2020: Meet the Quarter-Finalists
Ashwell Prince can inspire younger players to improve their mentality in the twenty20 format. Then he can teach them everything they need to know to succeed as a power hitter in this format. If the players respond by taking appropriate lessons from him, his appointment will be deemed beneficial.
In the case of Test cricket, Bangladesh players must have patience and an awareness of the longer version format. They lack understanding of the importance of playing multiple sessions as a batsman because that is the beauty of Test cricket. Batters must have the mindset of putting all of their energy and passion into the game in order to succeed.

Another crucial factor is to develop the mindset of shifting focus from one format to another. Bangladesh cricket fans would be pleased if Ashwell Prince can bring consistency to the players' batting approach.
Verdict
The BCB selectors named three separate teams for Test, ODI, and T20 formats for the forthcoming Zimbabwe tour. Each format has its own traits, and players must understand how to play in each one. Coaches have a critical role in this. It is important to identify player's shortcomings through developing relationships with them and offering assistance on how to perform to their full potential. Bangladesh cricket fans will have this expectations from both Herath and Prince.

3) 3rd ODI of the Series (2004)
Venue: Harare
Result: Bangladesh won by 8 runs
Bangladesh's first international victory came against Zimbabwe in an ODI series away from home in 2004. It was the third match of a five-match ODI series between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe. The first two matches were called off due to inclement weather.
Despite being the favorite, Zimbabwe lost the match by 8 runs due to a fantastic team effort by the Bangladeshi players. Bangladesh scored 238/7 in their innings, thanks to skipper Habibul Bashar (61), RajinSaleh (57), and Mohammad Ashraful's 51 off 32 balls knock. Later, Tareq Aziz (3), Mushfiqur Rahman (2), and Mohammad Rafiq (2) bowled brilliantly, restricting Zimbabwe to 230/9 in 50 overs. Result: Bangladesh won by 3 wickets
It was one of Bangladesh's most closely contested Test matches, which they finally won by three wickets. Bangladesh and Zimbabwe played the first of a three-match Test series at the SBNCS, Mirpur. The match lasted just three days because the surface was strongly suited for spinners and batters had a difficult time dealing with the variations of slower bowlers.
Zimbabwe batted first and scored 240 runs, while Bangladesh earned a 14-run lead after being bowled out for 254 in their first innings. Zimbabwe were bowled out for 114 after setting Bangladesh a 101-run target. Bangladesh had to fight really hard to get those runs, and they eventually reached the target after losing seven wickets. For Bangladesh, Shakib Al Hasan picked 6 wickets in the first innings, while Taijul Islam bagged 8 wickets in the second innings.

However, the competition came to a successful conclusion, with the best team emerged as the tournament champion.
Bangladesh’s Test, ODI, T20 Squads Analysis for BAN vs ZIM Series 2021
Bangladesh team will leave the country for Zimbabwe on June 29 to play a bilateral series against the host starting from next month. BCB has already announced squads for the tour on Wednesday (23rd June). Although some of the decisions were predictable, others caught the eyes of many cricket fans and pundits. The biggest surprise of the squad was the inclusion of newbie Shamim Hossain in the twenty20 squad. Apart from that, all the expected names have been selected for the tour. Bangladesh's Test, ODI, and T20 squads for the BAN vs ZIM Series 2021 are discussed in this article.
Major Highlights From the Declared Squads
NurulHasan and pacer Shoriful Islam have been picked in all three formats
Wicket-keeper batsman NurulHasanSohan has been one of the top performers in the domestic circuit, but he has been ignored in the last two years. Finally, he has been selected for the forthcoming series against Zimbabwe in all three formats. Sohan has a chance to win a spot in the playing XI because of Rahim's injury and he will be keen to show his worth if given the opportunity.
Pacer Shoriful Islam has been selected in all three formats for the next series, and he is likely to play several matches during the tour. Shoriful has been consistent in the domestic circuit over the last two years, and the selectors believe he has the potential to be a long-serving member of Bangladesh cricket.

Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah are back in the Test lineup
Shakib has returned to the Test setup for the Zimbabwe series after missing the last Test series against Sri Lanka. His inclusion in the Test squad is a major boost for Bangladesh, particularly Shakib's bowling will be important for the team tigers. Shakib may complete his 4,000 Test runs and 12,000 international runs in the one-off Test against Zimbabwe.
Only three days after announcing the squads, BCB has included veteran Mahmudullah Riyad to the Test squad who last played for Bangladesh in a Test match against Pakistan in February 2000. Mahmudullah will play his 50th Test match if given the opportunity.
Mustafizur Rahman dropped from the Test squad
As we all know, Mustafizur Rahman is an injury-prone player that is why the selectors were hesitant to take a chance on him. He has been picked for the ODI and T20 formats and will lead Bangladesh's limited-overs teams bowling attack during the tour.

Talented top-order batsman Najmul Hossain Shanto will only play in the Test series. It remains to be seen if he will be given an opportunity in the starting XI because Shakib Al Hasan is expected to start at number three.

Who Has the Best Chance to Win DPL T20 2021?
Prime Bank Cricket Club
Prime Bank won nine out of eleven games in the round-robin stage of the DPL T20 2021. We saw that the opening combination of Tamim Iqbal and RonyTalukdar had a great rapport in the first phase of the tournament. Rubel has made an instant impact as an opener. Prime Bank Cricket Club won the Super League round for the first time thanks to his 65-run knock against Mohammedan Sporting Club. They are currently in first position in the points table and will win the championship if they win their remaining games.
Mohammad Mithun has scored the most 353 runs in 13 innings while pace bowler Shoriful Islam has grabbed the most 18 wickets in 13 matches for Prime Bank Cricket Club.

Verdict
Abahani Ltd have remained unbeaten in the super league stage and have demonstrated more commitment to winning the competition. But their superstar captain Mushfiqur Rahim is out of the tournament after suffering an injury in Monday's encounter against the Gazi Group. So, Rahim's absence might affect their chances. Prime Bank and Prime Doleshwar will seize the opportunity to win the DPL T20 2021 title if Abahani fail to maintain their momentum.
BAN vs AUS: How Ashraful, Shakib shocked Australia
Bangladesh have played 31 international matches across all three formats against Australia, winning only two of them: one each in the ODI and Test formats. Bangladesh faced Australia for the first time in 1990. The Tigers defeated the Aussies for the first time in the NatWest series in 2005. Twelve years later, in 2017, Bangladesh beat Australia for the second time, in a Test match at home. Ashraful and Shakib had a big contribution in the two victories.
When Ashraful's 100 Shocked Australia
Bangladesh played six times against Australia before the NatWest series match in 2005 and lost all the matches. So no one had expected that the Tigers would beat mighty Australia. But Bangladesh's first superstar cricketer Mohammad Ashraful had other ideas, especially when Australia's innings ended at 249/5 in 50 overs.
Ashraful walked out to bat when Bangladesh lost two wickets for 51 runs in 15.4 overs. At that point, Australia had a firm grip on the match. But things started to turn in Bangladesh's favour when Ashraful and skipper Habibul Bashar counter-attacked the Australian bowlers and put on a 130-run fourth-wicket stand.

Habibul Bashar (47) batted well and provided excellent support to Ashraful at the other end. Before falling to Jason Gillespie in the 48th over, Ashraful put on a magnificent 100-run innings that included 11 boundaries. After that, Aftab Ahmed and Mohammad Rafique secured Bangladesh's win in the 50th over.
Shakib leads Bangladesh to a Historic Win
There was a lot of anticipation among the Tigers fans before the two-match Test series between Bangladesh and Australia in 2017. In 2016, Bangladesh had surprised the cricket world with a stunning victory over England.
It was the series-opening Test against a full-strength Australian side at the SBNCS, Mirpur. Bangladesh batted first and scored 260 in their first innings on a slow spinning track. After losing three early wickets in 10 runs, two senior Bangladesh cricketers, Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan put up a 155-run stand for the fourth wicket. Tamim scored 71 runs, while Shakib amassed the highest 84 runs.

When Australia came out to bat, Shakib Al Hasan's superb bowling knocked them out for 217 runs. Shakib took 5 wickets in the first innings, helping his team take a crucial 43-run lead. Bangladesh scored 221 runs in the second innings, with Tamim scoring a vital 78 runs.
The target of 265 runs proved too much for the Australian batsmen; David Warner was the lone fighter. Australia's innings fell apart when Warner departed after a magnificent 112-run knock.
Usman Khawaja, Steven Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Matthew Wade, and David Warner were dismissed by Shakib. Australia were eventually bowled out for 244 runs in the second innings and Bangladesh secured their first Test victory against the Aussies by 20 runs.

Shakib's all-round performance was the key difference maker in the contest. He took ten wickets in the match and batted well in the first innings.
Bottom Line
Two of the most memorable victories in Bangladesh's cricket history came against Australia. Ashraful and Shakib left Australia stunned in those matches. Bangladesh can also beat Australia again if they can play at their best in the forthcoming T20 series – the one format in which they are yet to do it.

However, the cricket boards of both countries are confident that the series will be held as scheduled. The tour will kick off with the one-off Test. Verdict
The BCB may deploy a few uncapped players in the squad aiming to find new talents during the Zimbabwe series. If this is the case then it is good news for Bangladesh cricket and youngsters who will get the opportunity. It will not be possible for the four most experienced players in Bangladesh, Shakib, Tamim, Mushfiqur, and Mahmudullah to continue playing regularly in all formats of the game in the near future. The BCB must now seek out suitable replacements.
With this in mind, the cricket board may use the Zimbabwe tour to find new talents. This will provide them an opportunity to play outside the country, and the newcomers will have a better chance of playing well because Zimbabwe are a relatively weak team.

The Australian selectors included a number of pacers and all-rounders in the white-ball team. Pacers Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazelwood have returned to the Australian limited-over squad for the next two series. However, some big names of Australian cricket will not be seen during the West Indies and Bangladesh tours. Steven Smith, David Warner, Pat Cummins, and Glen Maxwell are among them.
Marcus Stoinis, Kane Richardson, and Jhye Richardson are among the others who have withdrawn from the upcoming tours owing to personal reasons, while Steven Smith will be absent because of an elbow injury.
The Australia team will be captained by Aaron Finch. Josh Philippe, Matthew Wade, Moises Henriques, and Mitchell Marsh will have to carry most of the responsibility in batting. Australia have plenty of options in bowling, especially in the pace department. So, the national team's management will not have to worry about bowling.

Cricket Australia intends to play five T20 matches at the same venue due to the Coronavirus situation. Therefore, all of Bangladesh's matches against Australia in August are more likely to be staged at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Mirpur.
Verdict
Bangladesh have never beaten Australia in a T20 match. The two victories of Bangladesh against Australia came in ODI and Test formats. Bangladesh's possibility of winning at least one T20 match is not certain as Australia are a very competitive side. But this will be a golden opportunity for the team tigers' to win a T20 match for the first time against mighty Australian side. In addition, the Bangladesh team can test their strength in the shorter version format through this series. On the other hand, Australia lost their last twenty20 series against New Zealand in March. That's why Australia will take the Windies and Bangladesh T20 series very seriously.
