Global Covid cases top 559 million
The overall number of Covid cases has now surpassed 559 million amid a rise in new infections in Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Europe.
According to the latest global data, the total case count mounted to 559,664,296 and the death toll from the virus reached 6,371,439 Saturday morning.
The US has recorded 90,273,079 cases so far and 1,045,740 people have died from the virus in the country, the data shows.
India recorded 18,815 new Covid-19 cases in 24 hours, taking the total tally to 43,585,554, showed data released by the federal health ministry on Friday.
A total of 379,470 Covid tests were conducted across the country in the past 24 hours, added the ministry.
Besides, 38 more deaths due to the pandemic since Thursday morning took the death toll to 525,343.

Bangladesh registered seven more Covid-linked deaths with 1,611 cases in 24 hours till Friday morning amid a rapid surge in new infections.
The fresh numbers took the country's total caseload to 1,988,101 and the fatalities to 29,195, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The daily case positivity rate slightly rose to 16.82 per cent from Thursday’s 16.54 per cent as 9, 597 samples were tested during the period, said the DGHS.
The mortality rate remained unchanged at 1.47 per cent. The recovery rate declined to 96.14 per cent from Thursday’s 96.17 per cent.

According to the latest global data, the total case count mounted to 558,531,927 and the death toll from the virus reached 6,368,901 Friday morning.
The US has recorded 90,065,165 cases so far and 1,045,080 people have died from the virus in the country, the data shows.

India reported as many as 18,418 new Covid-19 cases in 24 hours, taking the total tally to 43,587,302, as per the data released by the federal health ministry Thursday.
Besides, 35 deaths due to the pandemic were reported since Tuesday morning, taking the total toll to 525,305.

Bangladesh registered three more Covid-linked deaths with 1,790 cases in 24 hours till Wednesday morning amid a rapid surge in new infections.

The fresh numbers took the country's total caseload to 1,986,490 and the fatalities to 29,188, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The daily case positivity rate slightly declined to 16.54 per cent from Wednesday’s 16.89 per cent as 10,822 samples were tested during the period, said the DGHS.
Among the deceased, two were women and one was a man. They were from Dhaka, Chattogram and Khulna divisions, respectively.
On Wednesday, the country recorded four Covid-linked deaths with 1,728 cases.
The mortality rate remained unchanged at 1.47 per cent. The recovery rate declined to 96.17 per cent from Tuesday’s 96.23 per cent as 678 patients recovered during this period.

The daily case positivity rate rose to 16.74 per cent from Monday’s 16.51 per cent as 11,882 samples were tested during the period, said the DGHS.
All the seven deceased were men. Of them, five were from Dhaka and one each from Rajshahi and Mymensingh divisions.
On Monday, the country recorded 12 Covid-linked deaths, the highest in four months, with 2,285 new cases.

The country last reported 13 Covid-linked deaths with 368 cases while the daily positivity rate was at 2.11 per cent on March 5 this year.
The mortality rate remained unchanged at 1.47 per cent. The recovery rate declined to 96.28 per cent from Monday’s 96.36 per cent as 494 patients recovered during this period.
In June, the country reported 18 Covid-linked deaths and 20,201 new cases, according to the DGHS.
The country reported its first zero Covid death in a single day on November 20 last year, along with 178 cases, since the pandemic broke out here in March 2020.

Of the deceased, nine were men and three were women. Of them, nine were from Dhaka and one each from Chattogram, Khulna and Mymensingh divisions.

On Sunday, the country recorded two Covid-linked deaths with 1,902 new cases.
