Three hurt in unexplained explosion while cutting tree at Rajbari
Three persons including a woman sustained injuries Sunday in an unexplained explosion at Baliakandi upazila of Rajbari district while cutting trees.
The injured are Aleya Khatun, 34, Abdar, 45, and Jinnat, 35.
Two of them were transferred to Faridpur Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical College and Hospital as their injuries were critical.
Abdus Salam, Chairman of Narua Union said around 11 am an explosion occurred at Sadar Ali Sardar’s house when workers struck the root of a tree with an axe.
In the explosion two workers and the woman who brought water for them got injured, he said.
Some GI pipes were seen underneath the soil at the spot of the explosion, said the chairman.
Officer-in-Charge of Baliakandi police station Tariquzzaman said the reason behind the explosion couldn’t be identified yet. Investigation is going on.
Two fall from bike, run over by speeding bus in Rajbari
Two men were crushed to death by a speeding bus when they fell off their bike after ramming a pillar of an under-construction flyover at the busy Pangsha College junction on the Rajbari-Kushtia regional highway on Thursday.
The deceased were identified as Muktar Hossain, 38, son of late Abul Hossain of the Housing Area of Kushtia Sadar upazila, and Rakib Uddin, 40, son of late Khaleq Sheikh of South State of the upazila.

The accident occurred in the small hours of Thursday when Rakib and Muktar were on their way to Dhaka from Kushtia.
Eye-witnesses said that the bike crashed into the under-construction flyover at a high speed. Both the riders lost balance and fell from the two-wheeler. Unfortunately, they came under the wheels of the bus and died.
Sub-inspector Atiqul of Pangsha Highway Police Station said the duo died on the spot. "Their bodies have been handed over to their family members," he said.

A huge hole has been created on Dhaka-Khulna highway in front of Daulatdia union parishad in Goalanda upazila due to heavy rain for the last couple of days, making vehicular movement risky on the highway.
Visiting the risky spot on Tuesday morning, the UNB correspondent found that vehicles were passing the death trap without knowing its position which can cause fatal accident anytime.
Although some sand-filled sacks have been placed near the hole, locals fear that accident might happen anytime.
Besides the huge hole in front of union parishad, holes have been created at seven to eight spots from Daulatdia terminal to Goalanda Mogbul’s shop.
3 members of a family killed in Rajbari road crash
Three members of a family were killed and three others injured when a truck hit a private car on Dhaka-Khulna Highway at Khankhanapur in Sadar upazila on Sunday.
The deceased were identified as Shuvro Mandal, 33, Lizan Biswas, 6, Shyamol Mandal, 35, of Ballavpur village in Mujibnagar upazila of Meherpur district.
Police said the accident took place around 10:30am when the truck hit the private car carrying six people while heading towards Dhaka, leaving three killed on the spot and three others injured.
The injured were taken to Goalanda Upazila Health Complex.
