Dealer held with 171 sacks of rice in Natore
Police arrested a rice dealer with 171 sacks of rice meant for open market sale (OMS) at Tk 10 kg from Satpukuria of Singra upazila on Wednesday.
The arrestee is Md Asaduzzaman.
Nur-e-Alam, officer-in-charge of Singra Police Station, said they raided Asaduzzaman’s warehouse acting on a tip-off and seized the rice.
Later, they arrested him.
Woman killed by lightning strike in Natore
A woman died after being struck by lightning at Majhgram of Singra upazila on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Rokeya Begum.
She was struck by lightning while returning home from the field during storm, leaving her critically injured, said locals.
22 families locked down in Natore
Twenty-two families of three buildings have been put under lockdown in the Sadar upazila.
According to the upazila administration, the buildings of Sugar Mill quarter have been locked down as 13 people have returned from Narayanganj and Dhaka.

Construction worker found dead in Natore
Police recovered the body of a construction worker from Atua in Bonpara upazila on Monday morning.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Awal Khalifa.
Police said locals spotted the body in a mango orchard in the morning and informed them.
Later, police recovered the body.
According to his family, Awal remained missing after he went out of home on Monday evening.
