A points table with a maximum of six points after the sixth or penultimate round of games of the WALTON International FIDE Rating Chess Tournament, sponsored by WALTON H-Tech Industries, PLC, associated by Bangladesh Chess Federation, and organised by Manha’s Castle, is now being held at Manha's Castle Hall-room, Label-5, R H Home Centre, 74 Green Road, Dhaka.

Three players—IM Mohammad Minhaz Uddin, FM Syed Mahfuzur Rahman, and FM Nayem Haque—followed the leader, collecting five points each.

International Master Mohammad Fahad Rahman of Bangladesh returned to winning ways beating Russian GM Savchenko Boris in the 4th round match of the Pavlodar Open Chess '2023 held in Pavlodar Province of Kazakhstan Tuesday evening.Fahad Rahman, who tasted the first defeat in the 3rd round match against Belarus GM Nikitenko Mihial, played the 4th round match with white pieces and beat the Russian GM Savchenko Boris in the 35th move.After the 4th round matches, IM Fahad Rahman secured three points to share the 3rd position with 13 other players. In the 5th round match on Wednesday afternoon, Fahad Rahman playing against GM Makhnev Denis of Kazakhstan.
Independence Cup: Dhaka Abahani start campaign taking on Bangladesh Air Force Friday
Former champions Dhaka Abahani Limited will start their campaign in the season's curtain-raiser soccer meet, the Independence Cup Football 2023, taking on Bangladesh Air Force in one of the three opening day's matches at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni Stadium in Gopalganj on October 27.
Sheikh Russel KC will play Rahmatgang MFS at the Bashundhara Kings Arena in Dhaka while Bangladesh Police FC will face Brothers Union Club at the Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Motiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj in the other two opening day's matches.

Two matches will be held on the following day (Saturday) .
Three times, Dhaka Mohammedan SC will meet the Bangladesh Army, while defending champions the Bashundhara Kings will encounter the Bangladesh Navy on Saturday, both at the Bashundhara Kings Arena.

The starting time of the above matches has yet to be announced.
In all 13 teams, ten teams from the Premier Division League and three teams from the qualifying round, split into four groups, will compete in the meet to be held at three different venues across the country.
Of the tournament's 15 group matches, eight matches will be held at the Bashundhara Kings Arena in Dhaka, three matches at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni Stadium in Gopalganj, and the rest four matches at the Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Motiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj.

Group A-Bangladesh Police, Sheikh Jamal DC, and Brothers Union Club
Group B- Dhaka Abahani Ltd, Sheikh Russel KC, Rahmatganj MFS, and Bangladesh Air Force
Group C - Dhaka Mohammedan SC, Fortis FC, and Bangladesh Army
Group D- Bashundhara Kings, Chittagong Abahani Ltd and Bangladesh Navy
On completion of league-based group matches on November 3, the top two teams from each group will play in the quarterfinals, which will begin on December 2, after a break for the AFC Cup and the engagements of the national team.
The champion team will receive a prize of Tk 5 lakh while the runners-up team will get Tk 3 lakh.

WFM Noshin Anjum emerges unbeaten champion in the Jaya Women's FIDE Rating Chess Tournament, securing six points after the seventh and last round matches held at the Bangladesh Chess Federation Hall-Room in Dhaka on Tuesday.
WFM Ahmed Walijah finished runner-up with 5.5 points.
Six players earned 5 points each, and their positions were decided through the tiebreaker.
In the tie-breaking system, WIM Rani Hamid became 3rd, WFM Nazrana Khan Eva became 4th, WCM Jannatul Ferdous became 5th, WCM Nusrat Jahan Alo became 6th, WFM Wadifa Ahmed became seventh, and WCM Israt Jahan Diba became eighth.
