30 BNP, Shibir men held in Chattogram
Chattogram, Sept 15 (UNB) – Police in separate drives arrested 30 activists of BNP and Islami Chhatra Shibir from different places of the port city.
The drive was conducted from Friday night till Saturday morning.
14 Shibir activists were arrested from Baklia area while 8 others of the same party from Dublmurring area, three Shibir and four BNP activists from Patenga area and one from Chakbazar area during separate drives, according to the officers-in-charge of respective police stations.
Police also conducted a drive at Shibir’s South Zone office around 11:30 pm but could not detain anyone from there, said Abul Kalam, officer-in-charge of Chakbazar Police Station.

Bangabandhu killer Rashid's son-in-law held under ICT act
Dhaka, Sept 13 (UNB) – Members of Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) on Wednesday night arrested the son-in-law of Sultan Shahriar Rashid Khan, executed killer of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, from city’s Hatirjheel area for posting derogatory comments against Bangabandhu on Facebook.
Fuad Zaman, the husband of Shehnaz Rashid Khan, daughter of Sultan Shahriar Rashid Khan, was detained on charges of giving a post on Facebook praising the killers of Bangabandhu and making ‘derogatory comments’ against him, said Masudur Rahman, deputy commissioner (media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
The team also seized his mobile phone, the official added.
On August 15, Fuad, in a Facebook post, praised the killers of Bangabandhu and sought the salvation of those departed souls, police said adding that he also termed the killing as a ‘good job’.
