A housewife has allegedly been gang raped by some men who held her husband at gunpoint at a remote char area under Rajrajeshwar union in Sadar upazila.
The victim is now undergoing treatment at the one-stop crisis center of Chandpur General Hospital.
Her husband filed a case against six people, said Harunur Rashid, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station.
According to the case statement, a group of miscreants, numbering 7-8 swooped on the house of the victim on Saturday night. They held the woman's husband at gunpoint and raped her.
They also threatened the couple and told them to keep quiet.
On Sunday, the criminals were beaten up by shoes at an arbitration. Angered by the incident, they again attacked the housewife on Monday.
Later, the victim’s family managed to flee the spot with the help of the village police and took shelter at a house of one of their relatives.
Four of the accused were identified as Firoz Mallik, 22, son of Sobhan Mallik, Sabuj Pradhania, 25, son of Shafi Prodhania, Babul Gazi, 23, son of Bhudai Gazi, Mostafa Pradhania, 21, son of Jahangir Prodhan while the identities of two others could not be known immediately.
Mahbubur Rahman, superintendent of Chandpur Police said legal action will be taken against the criminals.
