Dr Nurjahan breathed her last around 3 at her residence in the city, said Dr Foysal Iqubal Chowdhury, general secretary, Bangladesh Medical Association(BMA), Chattogram unit.
Her first namaz-e-janaza was held at central mosque of Chattogram Medical College after Johr prayers.
Dr Syeda Nurjahan was born on December 21, 1939 in Dhaka and studied in Eden Girls High School and Eden Girls’ College and completed MBBS from Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in 1963. Later she received MRCOGH and FRCOG degrees from London.
She started her career in 1968 as an assistant professor at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. He joined Chattogram Medical College Hospital as a professor in 1977.
In 1989 she became head of the Gynecology Department at CMCH and later became its principal.
