Like the holders Bashundhara Kings and joint league leader Saif SC, Dhaka Abahani Ltd also tasted the first defeat in Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football losing to Chittagong Abahani Limited by 0-2 goals at the Bangabandhu National Stadium here on Saturday.
Earlier on Saturday, Mediocre Dhaka Mohammedan SC made a big upset in the league beating star-studded Bashundhara Kings by 1-0 goals in the BPL venue in Cumilla while Sheikh Jamal SC defeated Saif SC by 2-1 goals in Mymensingh.
With the day’s well merited victory, Chittagong Abahani for the first time shared the top slot in the league with Dhaka Abahani, Bashundhara Kings and Saif SC, secured 10 points from five matches.
Ivory Coast booter Didier Charles put the port city team Chittagong Abahani ahead in the 63rd minute while Nasir sealed the fate of the match in the stoppage time (90+4 minute).
In the day’s other match, Sheikh Russel KC tasted their first victory in the league beating Muktijoddha Sangsad KC by 2-0 goals at Sylhet Stadium on Saturday.
With the day’s maiden win, Sheikh Russel KC advanced to the 8th slot in the league table securing five points from as many matches while the freedom fighters team remained at the bottom with one point from four outings.
