Tigers create history winning first T20I v mighty Australia
Bangladesh beat Australia in the first T20I of the five-match series by 23 runs on Tuesday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. It was Bangladesh’s first victory over Australia in the T20I format.
Before this game, Bangladesh played four matches against the Aussies but failed to win any of them.
Australia won the toss and sent Bangladesh bat first, who have posted 131 for six in 20 overs. In reply, Australia tumbled for 108/10 in 20 overs.
Nasum Ahmed, the left-arm spinner, bagged four wickets conceding 19 runs in four overs-- his career-best-- while Mustafizur Rahman and Shoriful Islam took two wickets each.
Bangladesh made a good start while bowling. They have taken three quick wickets to put immense pressure on the tourists.

Off the first ball of the innings, Mahedi Hasan removed Alex Carey for a golden duck. In the next over, Nasum Ahmed removed Josh Philippe for nine off five balls. It was a great stumping effort by Nurul Hasan Sohan.
Being stumped in this innings, Phillippe became the first Australian man cricketer to get stumped in the T2OIs.
Earlier, Mohammad Naim and Soumya Sarkar opened the innings for the hosts.
Bangladesh lost the first wickets in the fourth over when Josh Hazlewood removed Soumay in a rear fashion. The ball was outside off-stump, and Soumya went to play a late cut, but he only managed an edge to the stumps.
Naim fell for 30 off 29 balls with two fours and two sixes. He started well hitting Mitchell Starc for a six off the second ball of the innings. But the left-hander couldn’t continue to do well.
Bangladesh got their biggest partnership at the third wicket stand when Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah Riyad added 36 runs.

Mahmudullah was struggling at the wicket which seemingly created pressure on the Bangladesh captain, and he tried to play too many shots. Right after hitting a six, Mahmudullah fell prey to Hazlewood as Moises Henriques took a superb catch.
Afif Hossain scored 23 off 17 and helped the Tigers passed the 130-run mark. Bangladesh eventually ended up on 131 for six in 20 overs.
For Australia, Josh Hazlewood bagged three wickets conceding 24 runs while Mitchell Starc took two.
The second match of the series will take place on August 4 while the other matches will take place on August 6, 7 and nine.
Bangladesh post 131 in first T20I vs Australia
In the first T20I against Australia after five years, which is the first of the five-match series as well, Bangladesh posted 131 for six wickets in 20 overs on Tuesday at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

Australia opt to bowl in first T20I
Australia have won the toss and opted to bowl first in the first T20I of the five-match series against Bangladesh on Tuesday at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
This is Bangladesh’s first bilateral T20I series against Australia. It was in 2016 when these two teams faced each other in a T20I match.

Bangladesh are missing the service of the ace batsman Mushfiqur Rahim. Along with him, Tamim Iqbal and Liton Das are also out of action. While Tamim has been suffering from a knee injury, Liton is out due to family reasons.
Australia, on the other hand, are also missing some key players like of Steven Smith and David Warner who have chosen to skip this tour for personal reasons.

Abahani lift Dhaka Premier League T20 title
Abahani Limited won the title of the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Divison Twenty20 Cricket League beating Prime Bank Cricket Club by eight runs on Saturday at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
It was Abahani’s record 21st title of Dhaka’s top-flight cricket event, and three in a row.
Ahead of this game, both Abahani and Prime Bank had equal points, and thus, their last match on the Super League stage became a final.
Abahani won the toss and opted to bat first. They posted a challenging total of 150 runs for seven in 20 overs. In later, wrapped up Prime Bank for 142 for nine in 20 overs, and won the game by eight runs.
Mohammad Saifuddin, the right-handed pacer and left-handed batsman, starred in this match scoring 21 off 13 balls and taking four wickets conceding 36 runs in four overs.

Prime Bank’s Alok Kapali remained unbeaten for 34 off 17 deliveries, but his effort went in vain as Shahidul Islam defended 16 runs off the last over.
Prime Bank needed 55 runs in the last 30 balls to lift the title against, but they only could manage 46 runs.
In the last two overs, Prime Bank needed 32 runs. Alok hit Saifuddin for a six and four to score 16 runs, and they needed 16 off the last over.
The first ball was as high as his shoulder, but the leg-umpire refused to call it a no-ball. Alok looked unhappy, and off the last five balls, he only managed seven runs.
Rubel Mia was the highest runs getter for Prime Bank scoring 41, but he faced as many as 43 balls. His slow batting eventually led Prime Bank to the dire need to score quickly at the late of the order.
Saifuddin was tremendous with the ball. Despite conceding nine runs per over, he picked up wickets in crucial times. Mehedi Hasan Rana also did well with the ball taking two wickets.

Earlier, Abahani lost their first wickets before adding any run on the board. Inside the first two overs, they lost both their openers— Mohammad Naim and Munim Shahriar— for 0 and 3 respectively.
Liton Das, one of the mainstays of Abahani, in the absence of Mushfiqur Rahim, also failed to do well as he fell for 19.
But in the fourth-wicket stand, Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mosaddek Hossain added 70 runs. Shanto scored 45 off 40 while Mosaddek added 40 off 39 balls.
Coming into bat at seven, Saifuddin posted 21 off 13 balls with two sixes. He helped Abahani touched the 150-run mark.
For this all-round performance, Saifuddin won the player of the match award.
Saifuddin ended up Dhaka League scalping 26 wickets in 16 matches with the best of taking four wickets conceding 18 runs. He also did well with the bat scoring 94 runs at the strike rate of 138.26. He batted at the late order in most of the matches.
Naeem stars as Rupganj keep Premier League place intact
Legends of Rupganj kept their Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League place intact beating Old DOHS by six wickets in the Relegation League clash on Tuesday at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
The veteran allrounder and Rupganj captain, Naeem Islam, bagged two wickets conceding 12 runs in two overs and scored 27 off 14 balls with one six and four fours. He also won the player of the match award for his match-winning performance.
In order to avoid relegation to the first divisional league, it was a do-or-die affair for Rupganj. In this match, they won the toss and opted to bowl first. The rain-hit game was interrupted regularly, and which eventually reduced the game to 18-over a side.
DOHS posted 117 for six despite a wonderful knock of 51 off 39 by Anisul Islam Emon. Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Aliss Al Islam were the two other batsmen to do well for DOHS scoring 20 each.
For Rupganj, Hossain Ali bagged three wickets conceding 23 runs in three overs while Naeem took two.
In reply, Rupganj lost two wickets within 29 runs. They recovered this early damage riding on the 61-run stand between Sabbir Rahman and Mehedi Maruf. But both were dismissed by Abdur Rashid off two successive deliveries scoring 30 each.
In the last three overs, Rupganj needed to score 23 off 18 balls with six wickets in hand. Naeem smashed a six and a four off Abdur Rashid in the 16th over to ease the final job. He cleared Al Islam for a four in the next over and close the match well. Off the first ball of the last over, Naeem hit another four off Abdur Rashid and sealed the game for Rupganj. Naeem and Al Amin remained unbeaten for 27 and 7 respectively.
While Rupganj kept their Premier League place intact, Old DOHS and Partex Sporting Club relegated to the First Division. They will now have to be champions or runners-up in the First Division in order to take part in the next edition of the Premier League.
DPL Super League: Abahani overpower Mohammedan
Abahani beat Mohammedan by 60 runs Sunday in their first match of the Super League of the ongoing Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division T20 Cricket League.
Mohammedan won the toss and opted to bowl first at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
Abahani – asked to bat first – scored 193/7 in 20 overs as captain Mushfiqur Rahim hit 57 off 32 balls with eight fours and one six; and Munim Shahriar posted 43 off 27 balls with five fours and two sixes.
Also, Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mohammad Naim scored 27 and 24; Mosaddek Hossain came to bat at number seven and posted 14 off seven balls.

In the last five overs of their innings, Abahani scored 61 runs, which eventually helped them seal the game.
Ruyel Miah was the most successful bowler for Mohammedan, who took three wickets conceding 19 runs in four overs. Asif Hasan also scalped three wickets but he conceded 47 runs in four overs.
Chasing 194, Mohammedan suffered a batting collapse in the first over when they lost two wickets to Mohammad Saifuddin. In the sixth over, the last over of the powerplay, they lost two more wickets to Mosaddek Hossain. In the very next over, Mohammedan lost two more wickets.

At the halfway stage of their innings, Mohammedan were struggling at 49 for six. Four of Mohammedan's recognised batsmen were dismissed for a duck.
They could not make up for the early loss of wickets and lost the game by a big margin. However, Abu Hider Rony hit a fifty and remained unbeaten on 53 off 42 balls with five fours and two sixes.
For Abahani, Saifuddin and Mosaddek bagged two wickets each while Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Arafat Sunny took one wicket each.
Shykat, Sohan guide Shiekh Jamal to first Super League victory
Shykat Ali and Nurul Hasan Sohan played remarkably well with the bat to guide Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club to the first win of the Super League match in Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division Twenty20 Cricket League on Sunday at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
Sheikh Jamal won the toss and sent Prime Bank Cricket Club to bat first, who posted 164 for three in 20 overs. In reply, Sheikh Jamal scored 165 for three in 18.1 overs and won the game by seven wickets at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
Despite losing the opener Mohammad Ashraful for only five, Shykat led the charge hitting 60 off 36 balls with six fours and three sixes.

In the second-wicket stand, Shykat and Imrul Kayes added 100 runs, with Imrul scoring 44 off 40 balls with two fours and as many as sixes.
Along the way, Shykhat hit his fifty off 28 balls with a six, which eventually earned him the player of the match award.
In the last 30 balls, Sheikh Jamal needed 48 runs.

Sohan hit 44 off 17 balls with four sixes and two fours to end the remaining job for his team. Sheikh Jamal eventually ended up the game with 11 balls to play, with Sohan and Tanbir Hyder remained unbeaten for 44 and seven respectively.
Earlier, Mohammad Mithun scored 67 off 42 balls with seven fours and two sixes. Raqibul Hasan was the second-highest runs-getter for Prime Bank.
The first match of the Super League— between Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club and Gazi Group Cricketers— which was scheduled to take place on Sunday morning, was washed out due to the rain. This match is now set to take place on June 22 at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
DPL Super League begins Saturday without Shakib, Tamim
The Super League phase of the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division Twenty20 Cricket League is all set to begin Saturday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium without the two most senior national team players – Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal.
Shakib left Dhaka for the US early Friday to spend time with his family; Tamim has suffered a leg injury throughout the league.
Both Shakib and Tamim's teams – Mohammedan Sporting Club, and Prime Bank Cricketers – have qualified for the Super League.
Masuduzzaman, the chair of the cricket committee of Mohammedan, said: "Shakib asked for permission to skip the Super League to spend time with his family in the US. Respecting his decision, we approved his leave."

Tamim said: "I have been suffering from a leg injury and discussed my condition with the medical team of the board. They told me to rest for a while. Since we have a long series in Zimbabwe, I think I have to be better prepared than I'm right now. So I think I should skip the Super League."
Super League lineup
Prime Bank Cricket Club topped the points table with the most wins in the initial phase of the league, which consists of 11 rounds. The table-toppers won nine matches and the number two team Abahani eight.
Prime Doleshwar, Gazi Group Cricketers, Mohammedan Sporting Club and Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club are the other teams of the Super League.
On Saturday, three matches will take place at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium where Doleshwar will face Gazi Group at 9am. In the second match, Prime Bank will play against Sheikh Jamal at 2pm while Abhani will take on Mohammedan at 6:30pm. All the matches will be telecast live on GTV and T Sports.

The second, third, fourth and fifth rounds of the Super League will be played on June 20, 22, 23 and 25 at the same venue.
Three teams – Legends of Rupganj, Old DOHS Sports Club and Partex Sporting Club – who hit the rock bottom in the points table – will take on each other once in the relegation round, which will also begin on June 19 at BKSP.
The toppers of the relegation league will get the chance to play the next Dhaka League directly, but the other two teams will be relegated to the first division, and they will need to end it as the champions or runners-up to play the next edition of Dhaka League.
Khelaghar, Shinepukur stun Rupganj, Sheikh Jamal
Two underdogs beat the favourites in the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division Twenty20 Cricket League Friday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
Khelaghar Samaj Kallyan Samity overpowered Legends of Rupganj with a seven-wicket victory, while Shinepukur Cricket Club beat Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club by 10 runs.
Khelaghar won the toss and sent Rupganj to bat first, who posted 138 for five in 20 overs, riding on the fifty of Al Amin. Azmir Ahmed and Sabbir Rahman also batted well, scoring 28 and 23.

Masum Khan took two wickets while Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Rishad Hossain took one wicket each for Khelaghar and they chased down the target of 139 with seven wickets in hand despite losing two early wickets.
Miraz and Jahurul Islam added 87 runs in the third wicket stand and guided their team to a victory over a stronger opposition.
In the second game, Shinepukur won riding on the outstanding bowling performance by Tanvir Islam, the left-arm spinner, who bagged three wickets conceding only eight runs in four overs.
Earlier, Shinepukur batted first and posted 137 runs for five wickets in 20 overs with Robiul Islam Robi hitting the highest score of 34. Tanzid Hasan, Towhid Hridoy and Sabbir Hossain also did well scoring 34, 28 and 20.
For Sheikh Jamal, Ebadot Hossain and Ziaur Rahman took two wickets each.

However, they were bundled out for 127 in 19.5 overs while chasing the target of 138. Shykat Ali and Mohammad Ashraful started well with boundaries but failed to get it going.
Shykat fell for 9 while Ashraful scored only four. In the third wicket stand, Nasir Hossain and Elias Sunny added 58 runs, which was not enough for Sheikh Jamal to avoid a defeat as the other batsmen failed to respond well.

Tanvir bagged three for Shinepukur, Hasan Murad took two, and Sumon Khan, Iftekhar Sazzd scalped one wicket each.
Mohammedan continue winning run
Mohammedan Sporting Club registered their second win in the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division T20 Cricket League Thursday against Partex Sporting Club at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
Partex batted first after winning the toss and posted a challenging total of 157 runs for five wickets in 20 overs.
Abbas Musa, who played only his second T20, hit 64 off 44 balls with five fours and as many sixes, and captain Tasamul Haque also hit a fifty.
For Mohammedan, Taskin Ahmed bagged two wickets while Shakib Al Hasan and Abu Jayed took one wicket each.
In reply, Irfan Sukkur hit an unbeaten 52 off 29 balls with five fours and two sixes and Nadif Chowdhury also remained not out for 27. The batters guided their team to a six-wicket victory with 14 balls to play.
Mahmudul Hasan and Shamsur Rahman also did well with the bat scoring 38 and 19. However, Mohammedan captain Shakib was dismissed for a golden duck.
Mohammedan will take on Prime Bank Cricket Club in their next game at the same venue on June 5, while Partex will take on Old DOHS Sports Club on the same day.
