Rape on moving bus in Savar: 5 put on remand
A Dhaka court on Saturday placed five men on a three-day remand in a case filed over rape of a 26-year-old woman on a minibus at Nabinagar in Savar .
Senior Judicial Magistrate Shahzadi Tahmida passed the order after sub-inspector Mohammad Ziaul Islam, also investigating officer of the case, produced the accused before the court .
The court also recorded the confessional statement of Sumon Mia , the driver of the minibus and also an accused.
Those remanded are Md Ariyan 18, Md Saju ,20,Monowar Hossain 24, Sohag 25, and Saiful Islam 40.

Earlier on Friday night, the woman while returning home with an acquaintance was allegedly raped by six men on a minibus in Savar.
All the six accused, including the driver and the helper of the bus, were arrested after the woman raised an alarm.
Sazzad Karim, officer-in-charge of Highway Police Station, said on Saturday that the woman, a garment factory worker, went to Manikganj from Chashara of Narayanganj on Friday morning.
In the evening, she boarded a Narayanganj-bound bus. When the bus reached Nabinagar in Ashulia, the woman and her acquaintance got off and boarded a minibus to reach Narayanganj.
"The six accused were already on the bus. The driver suddenly stopped the bus near DC Nursery and tied up the woman and her male acquaintance with a rope. Later, they took turns to rape her," the OC said.

However, the girl showed her presence of mind and raised an alarm. Hearing her screams, a police patrol team confronted the accused and rescued her from their clutches. "All the six have been arrested," the officer said.
An FIR for rape has been filed at Ashulia Police Station against the accused, on a complaint by the woman.
"She has been sent to the one-stop crisis centre at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital," the OC added.
5 Bangladeshis arrested in India for ‘rape, torture of woman’
Police in India’s Bengaluru arrested five Bangladeshis - four men and a woman - for allegedly raping and torturing a woman believed to be from Bangladesh.
The arrests were made on late Thursday evening, hours after Assam Police shared visuals from a video circulating on social media to trace the accused, reports the Hindustan Times.
The video showed five people, including the woman, subjecting another woman to physical abuse and torture. Bengaluru City Police promptly traced and arrested them.
According to the report, the accused and victim are Bangladeshis.
“As per the information revealed so far, all of them are part of the same group and believed to be from Bangladesh,” Bengaluru police Commissioner Kamal Pant told Hindustan Times.
Due to financial disputes, the culprits brutalised the victim, who is also said to be a Bangladeshi, brought to India for human trafficking, he said.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
Khulna ASI suspended & jailed over rape at quarantine centre
An assistant sub-inspector of police, arrested on charges of raping a 22-year-old woman at an institutional quarantine centre in Khulna, has been suspended and sent to jail.
Khulna Metropolitan Magistrate Tariqul Islam has remanded ASI Mokleshur Rahman of Khulna Metropolitan Police in judicial custody in the case filed by cops on the woman's complaint.
Authorities have also suspended the ASI, following a preliminary probe, officials told UNB.
ASI Mokleshur Rahman, 44, son of Sekendar Al of Jashore district was posted at the Khulna Primary Teachers Training Institute (PTI), designated an institutional quarantine centre, since May 1.
He was arrested on Monday for allegedly raping the young woman who was kept at the institutional quarantine centre after her recent return from India. A probe panel set up by the police has found his involvement in the case in a preliminary investigation.

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Helal Hossain said a probe body, headed by additional district magistrate Mohammad Yusuf Ali, was formed to look into the incident. "Prima facie, the probe panel has found the cop guilty."
The woman is currently undergoing treatment at the one-stop crisis centre of Khulna Medical College and Hospital.
According to the First Information Report, the woman was lodged at the quarantine centre since her return from India on May 4. During her stay, she fell in love with the cop, but Mokleshur violated her on May 14.
Syeda Ferdousi Begum, supervisor of Khulna PTI, said a total of 14 women were lodged at the quarantine centre upon their return from India. Of them, 10 have left the centre after the completion of their 14-day mandatory quarantine.
According to the Civil Surgeon's office, the local administration has made it mandatory for everyone returning to the district from India to undergo a mandatory 14-day quarantine with effect from May 1. Some 12 institutions have been designated institutional quarantine centres in Khulna, where 375 people are kept in isolation.
Teenager held over alleged rape of disabled child in Jashore
A six-year old, speech impaired child was allegedly raped by a teenager on Monday at Radhanagar village of Jhikargacha upazila in Jashore.
Police arrested Shohag, 16, the accused on Tuesday.
The victim has been admitted in critical condition at Jessore General Hospital.

The victim's father said his daughter was playing with some other children near Radhanagar Bazar when Shohag, a tea stall owner, offered her sweets and lured her inside his shop, where he proceeded to rape her.
As the girl returned home crying and bleeding, her father with help of the local chairman took her to hospital and filed a case in the police station.

A Resident Medical officer (RMO) of Jessore General Hospital informed that samples have been collected from the victim's body for testing.
It can be ensured after receiving the report whether the victim was raped or not, he said.

Officer-in-Charge of Jhikargacha police station, Abdur Rajjak, said a case has been filed in this connection.
The accused was arrested from his house and sent to Jessore court, said the OC.
Kurigram man arrested for raping 7-year-old girl
Police on Friday arrested a man for allegedly raping a 7-year-old girl in Char Sitaijhar village of Mughalbasa union in Kurigram Sadar upazila.
The arrestee was identified as Alam Mia, 40, son of late Omar Ali of the village, an employee of a tea stall.
Officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station Shahriar Khan said tea stall worker Alam was accused of raping the girl when she was alone on May 3. The girl did not tell anyone about the incident for three days. Later, due to severe pain and bleeding, she told her mother about the incident. The girl was later treated by a local doctor.

In this connection, the mother of the minor girl filed a case with the Kurigram Sadar Police Station on Friday morning.
On Friday noon, the Police arrested the accused Alam and he was sent to jail after being presented in court.

Out to relieve herself, woman kidnapped & gang raped in Gaibandha
A woman who had stepped out of her house to relieve herself was allegedly kidnapped and raped by four to five men in Sundarganj upazila of Gaibandha district.
The alleged crime occurred early on Monday morning.
Police said the accused took the woman to a desolate place and took turns to rape her after gagging her. But after she passed out, the accused panicked and fled from there.
Local residents spotted the woman and rushed her to Gaibandha District Hospital.
Cops have identified the accused as Mastan Shaheb Mia, Khushu Mia, Laltu Mia, Khorshed and Anarul. "Efforts are on to nab them," a police officer said.

Youth held for ‘raping’ schoolgirl in Narayanganj
Police on Monday arrested a young man for allegedly raping a sixth grader at Fatullah in Narayanganj.
The arrestee was identified as Farhad, 21, son of one Al Amin Mia.
Officer-in-Charge of Fatullah Police Station Rokibuzzaman said Farhad was a tenant at the victim’s house and had made advances to the underage schoolgirl.

He took the girl to his house on April 16 and raped her. The victim’s mother rescued her the next day and filed a case at Fatullah Police Station, the OC said.
The girl was sent to Narayanganj General Hospital for a medical test, he said.

Bagerhat teens held for 'raping' seven-year-old
Police Friday arrested two teenagers for "raping" a seven-year-old girl in Bagerhat's Chitalmari.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chitalmari Police Station Mir Shariful Haque said, "On Thursday, the duo approached the girl and lured her on the pretext of playing a game. The teenagers took the seven-year-old to a nearby sugarcane field where they 'sexually assaulted' her."
Later, the victim's father rushed to the spot hearing her scream and caught the teenagers in the act. Next, he filed a case against them at night, the OC said.

The girl was taken to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital for a medical examination, he added.

RMG worker ‘gang raped’ in Gazipur
A female worker of readymade garments was allegedly gang raped in Mulaid area of Sripur in Gazipur early Tuesday.
Officer-in-Charge of Sripur Police Station Golam Sarowar Jahan said the house owner of the victim ousted her from the house on Monday night raising different accusations.
Taking advantage of the situation, one Mizan Fakir in the name of helping her provided her a room in his house, OC said.

Later, as the night progressed Mizan went to the victim’s room and violated her along with four others, the cop said.
However, the victim managed to flee from that room and filed a case over the matter in the morning, he added.
Police arrested one of the accused and are trying to catch the others, OC said.

Youth arrested for raping cousin in Bagerhat
A youth was arrested in Bagerhat for allegedly raping his 5th grader cousin.
The arrestee was identified as Ujjol Khan, 26.
On Sunday police arrested Ujjol conducting a drive in Sadar upazila’s Jatrapur area following a case filed by the victim’s father accusing Ujjol and his mother Farida Begum.

Victim’s father in the case statement said on February 15, his sister Farida Begum took his daughter home for a stay over and didn’t let her come when they asked to let her.
On March 10 when the victim's father went to Farida’s house she hid the victim and misbehaved with him.
On March 29 with the help of locals he rescued the victim from Farida’s house.

The victim said from February 17 to March 29, Ujjol has raped the victim several times.
When asked, Farida Begum threatened the victim's father to not talk about the incident.
Bagerhat model police station’s Officer-in-Charge, KM Ajijul Islam, said Ujjol was arrested upon the case filed by victim’s father.

Ujjol will be handed over to court after questioning and efforts are going on to detain the other accused, said police.
