Missing Jakiganj municipal councilor rescued
Sylhet, Oct 2 (UNB) – Police rescued Jakiganj Municipality Councilor Shahbuddin Shakil from Sarail in Brahmanbaria district on Tuesday morning four days after he reportedly went missing.
His family members said Shahabuddin Shakil went missing on Friday night when he was going to attend an arbitration meeting around 10:30 pm.
Later, his brother Awami League leader Nazrul Islam filed a general diary with Jakiganj Police Station.
On information, a team of police from Sarail Police Station rescued him tied up his hands and legs with rope in a sack from Sarail upazila around 6 am.
Later, he was admitted to a hospital in Sarail, they said.

5 ‘JMB men’ held in Natore
Natore, Sept 30 (UNB) – Police arrested five suspected members of the banned militant outfit Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) from different parts of Boraigram upazila early Sunday on charge of planning acts of sabotage.
The arrestees were identified as Jobayer Hossain, regional commander of JMB, Mostafizur Rahman, Alauddin, Ashraful Islam and Zakaria.
Acting on information that a team of Rab conducted drive at Bhabanipu village and arrested Jobayer, Mostafizur and Alauddin from a clandestine meeting held at an abandoned house, said Azmal Hossain, camp commander of Rab-5.
Following their information, Rab troops then arrested Ashraful and Zakaria from Dogachi and Borni areas.
They also recovered some ‘jihadi’ books and leaflet from their possessions.
