Dhaka, Oct 17 (UNB) – Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Wednesday announced a 12-man squad to face visiting Zimbabwe for a one-day practice match to be held at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan (BKSP) in Savar on Friday.
Soumya Sarker, who is not in the main squad for Bangladesh’s three-match day-night ODI series against Zimbabwean, will lead the BCB XI in the practice match.
Zimbabweans are now on a tour to Bangladesh for three ODIs and two Tests against the host side.
The first ODI is scheduled to be held at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in Mirpur on October 21 before the series moved to the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium (ZACS) in Chattogram for the next two matches on October 24 and 26.
The first Test will be held in Sylhet from November 3 to 7 followed by the second and final game from November 11 to 15 in Dhaka.

Dhaka, Oct 17 (UNB) - The ICC Cricket World Cup Trophy arrived here on Wednesday morning on a four-day visit to Bangladesh as part of its journey around the globe.
Carrying the trophy, a flight of Emirates Airways landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 8:40 am.
The ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, ICC’s showpiece 50-over event, will be held in England and Wales from May 30 to July 14 in 2019.
The cricket fans in Dhaka, Sylhet and Chattogram will get the opportunity to see the 64cm trophy weighing 10.80 kgs in their respective cities under a Unicef Bangladesh programme before it leaves Bangladesh on October 21.
After the unveiling at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the morning, there will be a photo session with the underprivileged children at 10:30 am and another photo session with Bangladesh National Cricket team at 12 noon.
On the 2nd day on Thursday, the trophy will be displayed for the cricket fans at Centre Court of Jamuna Future Park in the city from 11 am to 9 pm.
The trophy will travel to Sylhet on Friday (October 19) on a daylong tour to make photo session with unprivileged children at International Cricket Stadium at 10:30 am while it will be displayed for fans from 11 am to 4 pm on the same venue before visiting Sylhet Cadet College at 4:30 pm.
Finally, the trophy will make a daylong tour to Chattogram on Saturday (October 20) to hold a photo session with the unprivileged children at 10:30 am and it will be displayed for the fans from 11 am to 6 pm on the day, both at the MA Aziz Stadium.
The trophy began its journey from the International Cricket Council headquarters in Dubai on August 27 last and is travelling across five continents, 21 countries and over 60 cities. It is the most extensive Trophy Tour ever and will allow cricket fans around the world to catch a glimpse of the coveted prize.
The trophy will travel not only to the participating countries, but for the first time will go beyond the traditional cricketing nations and connect with fans in 11 other countries where cricket is gaining popularity.
Bangladesh is the trophy’s sixth stopover, after having already visited Oman, the USA, the West Indies, Sri Lanka and Pakistan. After Bangladesh, the trophy will tour Nepal, India, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, Kenya, Rwanda, Nigeria, France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany before reaching England and Wales on 19 February, 2019.
Dhaka, Oct 16 (UNB) – Touring Bangladesh U-19 team scored 209 for 3 in 58 overs on the first day of the four-day First Youth Test against hosts Sri Lanka at the Nondescripts Cricket Club Ground in Colombo on Tuesday.
Bangladesh opted to bat first after winning the toss and made a good start scoring 54 runs in 8.5 overs in the opening stand, losing 2nd wicket on 93 runs in 23.5 overs and third wicket on 139 runs in 40.3 overs.
Later in the 4th wicket strand, number four batsman cum captain Towhid Hridoy pairing with number five Shamim Hasan added an unbeaten 70 to carry the team total to 209 from 139 runs.
Towhid Hridoy was batting on 54 runs off 98 balls hitting three fours and one six, opener Prantik Nawroz Nabil made 35 off 114 balls with three boundaries, Shamim Hasan was also in batting with 43 runs off 64 balls featuring four fours and one six while another opener Tanzid Hasan scored 42 runs off 31 balls with seven boundaries.
A Daniel, C Wijesinghe and ST Mendis took one wicket each conceding 42, 46 and 58 runs respectively.

Dhaka, Oct 16 (UNB)- Zimbabwe Cricket team arrived in the capital on Tuesday (Oct 16) on a month long tour to Bangladesh to play a three-match ODI and two-match Test series against the Tigers in Dhaka, Chattogram and Sylhet.
Long serving experienced batsman Hamilton Masakadza, who retained captaincy in all formats against South Africa, will also lead the touring Zimbabwe team in both the ODI and Test series against in Bangladesh.
The first batch of Zimbabwe team reached Hazrat Shah Jalal International Airport in Dhaka in the morning while remaining three cricketers, who failed accompany team in the morning for their involvement in the Afghanistan Premier League, scheduled to reach here this (Tuesday) evening.
The day-night basis three-match ODI series between two teams will begin on October 21 at the home of Bangladesh cricket --Sher-e- Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur--while the remaining two ODIs scheduled for Oct 24 and 26 at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium of the port city of Chattogram
Prior to the ODI series, visiting Zimbabwe will play a one–day preparation match against the local selections on October 19 at BKSP in Savar.
On competition of the ODI series, the two-match Test series between two teams will begin on November 3 at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium while the 2nd and last Test will begin on November 11 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.
