Apple iPhone 14 vs iPhone 13: Which is the Better Deal?
Apple launched its latest innovation, the iPhone 14 series lineup on September 07, 2022. Like every year, there are buzzes and excitements centering the latest iPhone series. However, there are some mixed reactions about the iPhone 14 model, as it comes with the same chipset found in its ancestor 13 version. Now, is the new iPhone 14 worth buying? Or should you just pick up an iPhone 13 taking advantage of its slashed price? Let’s find out the best deal between iPhone 14 and iPhone 13.
iPhone 13 vs iPhone 14: Similarities and Differences
As Apple has made very minor tweaks in most departments, the exterior design might give an impression that there is almost no difference between the iPhone 14 and its ancestor 13 version. These changes are so small that they can hardly make any difference to the average user. Not to mention, these changes have improved the overall construction of the iPhone 14. Now this device can be considered refined according to the latest standards. Let’s look at the changes from the previous model.
Design and Build
From a glance, the iPhone 14 appears to be the exact carbon copy of the iPhone 13. The front dimensions of both the models are the same but if you try to put an iPhone 13 case on the 14, you will notice the difference.
Read Apple’s iPhone 14 now being assembled in India
That is because with a larger camera module the iPhone 14 is slightly thicker (7.8mm) that iPhone 13 (7.7mm). Other than that, everything else seems to be right where it was on the 13.
But perhaps the most striking change is the seamless sides on the iPhone 14. For the first time, Apple has removed the physical sim slot from the iPhone 14 series in the US market.
The move is made to facilitate e-sim adoption as it allows for dual sim connectivity with options to register up to 8 sims on a single device.
However, other region specific iPhone 14s will still come with a physical sim slot as e-sim adoption hasn’t kicked off yet globally.

The Camera
Speaking of the bump on the back, Apple has upgraded the camera module on both the back and the front.
The camera on the back is still a 12 MP one but with a much larger lens featuring 26mm wide focal length, 1/1.7" and f/1.5 aperture. This specific lens setup has been replaced by the 13 Pro series to make for noticeably better camera performance.
The same difference is seen on the front camera as well. The iPhone 14’s 12 MP front sensor now has a larger aperture of f/1.9 aperture which has been upgraded from iPhone 13’s f/2.2 aperture.
Apple iPhone 14’s camera section’s best feature has to be the autofocus which significantly increases the selfie quality.
Read Apple's iPhone 14 Review: A revamped iPhone 13?
What’s more? Apple has also included its proprietary Photonic Engine in the latest iPhone. It’s a fancy name for a new image processing module that can increase the low light image quality by up to 50%.
Processor, Performance, and Connectivity
Perhaps the greatest negative press that Apple got in the last few years is the inclusion of the same A15 Bionic chip from the iPhone 13 series to the iPhone 14. The iPhone 14 Pro models got the new and improved A16 Bionic chips. It makes a clear distinction in processing power in the same lineup for the first time.
However, it’s not the exact same chip. The A15 Bionic has been tweaked to improve the GPU from four cores to 5 cores. This increased the graphics rendering capability of the iPhone 14 by almost 18% from the previous generation.
There has been an improvement in the memory department as well. Apple has finally upgraded from 4 GB RAM on their base model to 6 GB RAM. The RAM increment is easily noticeable as apps don’t have to refresh as regularly as they used to.
Read iPhone 14 launch: What are the new features?
The combined result is improved performance on paper. We say on paper because the performance differences aren’t all that noticeable. High-intensity games still run the same as they did on the iPhone 13 before without any visible performance improvement.
However, that’s not necessarily a drawback as iPhones have long before reached a performance saturation point. The performance was already above and beyond on the iPhone 13 so it's no surprise that the improvements are only minor.
On the connectivity end, there is the new X65 5G modem on the iPhone 14. While using both 5G and LTE, there has been a 38% increase in upload and download speed. This will definitely help to enhance the 5G experience more where it is fully available.
The Display and the Speakers
There has been a little buzz regarding the display and the speaker on the iPhone 14. Some say that there is a noticeable difference from the last generation. But unfortunately, the display and the speaker are both carried over from the last generation.
Read iPhone 14 launch: Game-changing emergency services via satellite
Meaning the display is still the same Super Retina XDR one as Apple loves to call it. The speaker performance is also the same on both video playbacks as well as calls.
Battery and Charge Time
iPhone 14’s battery has been bumped to 3279 mAh from iPhone 13’s 3227 mAh battery. This allows for a slightly improved battery performance over the previous model. In testing, the iPhone 14 was able to clock an extra hour in video playback which seems like a pretty great deal.
The charging speed is the same 20W with the wired one and 15W with the Magsafe charger.
What’s New on the iPhone 14?
Now it's easy to get lost in the myriad of minor tweaks here and there. But did Apple actually include anything new with their new iPhone 14?
Yes, they did. But how much will it impact day-to-day use remains a question. The two additional features this year include the Emergency SOS signal via satellite and crash detection technology.
Read Apple warns of security flaw for iPhones, iPads and Macs
Apple has brought a premium service of connecting directly to a satellite for extreme emergencies where there are no signals or connectivity. Apple said that the feature will be free for the first two years with premium plans afterward.
On the other hand, Apple improved their gyro sensors to develop a crash detection technology that will automatically notify authorities if you find yourself in an accident.
As a user, these are just extreme cases and something that anyone would wish never to try.
Final Verdict: Which one Should you Buy?
The release of the new iPhone 14 means Apple would slash the price of their previous models by 100 dollars. And that price cut makes the choice a lot more interesting.
With an equal price, it makes sense to go for the iPhone 14 over the 13. But now you will have to pay 100 dollars more for slightly better camera performance and two new features which you’ll probably never use.
Read Price Drop: Is it the right time to buy an iPhone 13?
From a complete value perspective, the iPhone 13 is the better choice. It brings almost all the bells and whistles at a much cheaper price.
But if you need the latest and greatest Apple tech, the 14 can be a minimal yet understandable choice.

The most notable change will be seen in the back visor as it has been replaced with an aluminum one. On top of that, Google will unveil the second generation of their in-home tensor processor.
Not much is known about the price of the devices. Going by last year, the prices should be around 699 USD (BDT 71073) for the standard 7 and 899 USD (BDT 91409) for the 7 Pro (1 USD = 100.88 BDT).

The triple camera sensor will be headed by a 64 MP primary shooter. The battery of the X4 GT is expected to be around 5000 mAh with 67W fast charging included.
The price of the device is expected to be around 25,000 Rs or 31,090 BDT (1 RS= BDT 1.24).

Asus ROG Phone 6D Review: Worth the price tag?
Since 2006, Asus has marketed a variety of PC gaming-focused computer hardware, personal computers, and accessories under the name of Republic of Gamers (ROG). With the three distinct ultrasonic AirTrigger touch sensors, the ROG Phones provide a more console-like gaming experience. ASUS brings its latest innovation ROG Phone 6D in September of 2022. Besides a gaming friendly design and smart interior architecture, this high-end gaming phone is blessed with a robust processor and advanced cooling technologies. Let’s take a look at the key features, pros and cons of Asus ROG Phone 6D.
Key specifications of Asus ROG Phone 6D
Design
The ROG Phone 6D has certain similarities with earlier models. It is a large, cumbersome smartphone (173 x 77 x 10.4 mm) that is comfortably taller and wider than the iPhone 14 Pro Max (160.7 x 77.6 x 7.9 mm). It requires two hands to operate and occupies much pocket space.
Asus attempts to mitigate this weight (239g) somewhat by curving the glass on the back panel so that it is at least somewhat pleasant to hold. Nevertheless, several characteristics indicate that it is mainly intended for using two hands in the landscape.
Read Apple's iPhone 14 Review: A revamped iPhone 13?
In ROG Phone 6D, Asus offers the ‘AeroActive Portal,’ a tiny mechanical duct on the back of the device that opens automatically when the AeroActive cooling fan is attached. With this channel open, the fan can push cool air directly into the phone's body while simultaneously dispersing heat from the back glass, allowing the device to run optimally for extended periods.
Its front panel is built with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus; where the back panel features Gorilla Glass construction. The device is built with an aluminum frame. In this device, water splash protection is provided by IPX4 from all directions.
Display
Asus ROG Phone 6D sports Samsung AMOLED display with a large screen (6.78" ). Its 2448 x 1080p resolution offers adequate sharpness to offer clear and detailed visuals. The display offers a great deal of vibrancy and brightness (~395 ppi density).

Gamers can comfortably play virtual games in broad daylight in outdoor ambiences. In addition, it has a practical aspect ratio (20.4:9), which makes it perfect for movies and video games. The display is fully flat, which means that there is no distortion at the borders of the screen.
ROG Phone 6D supports HDR10+. With this phone, users can watch contents from diverse streaming services with significant contrast and an excellent peak brightness level. You will never have the impression that the colors will get over the top, even though the picture will normally be extremely saturated. Beyond gaming, this phone is also great for media consumption.
It is also possible for refresh rates to reach a maximum of 165 hertz in ROG Phone 6D. Although unnecessary for most applications and services, it ensures that scrolling interfaces and games with enhanced refresh capabilities may be played without issue.

Rear Cameras
Sony® flagship IMX 766 50 MP image sensor with a 1/1.56" big sensor size and 1 m pixel size is used as the primary rear camera. This 35mm film camera comes with F1.9 aperture and 23.8mm equivalent focal length. The primary sensor is the same as that of the ROG Phone 6, ZenFone 9, and Oppo Find X5 Pro. This sensor operates well in well-lit circumstances, producing vibrant and vivid images in clear daylight. In general, colors are highly enhanced, although not to an extreme degree of hyperrealism. They give photos "pop," making them perfect for contemporary preferences.
Second rear camera features a 13 MP, ultrawide-angle sensor featuring 12.5 mm equivalent focal length in a 35mm film camera. The Third Rear Camera is a 5 MP Macro sensor; however it should not be held in especially high regard.
Video Recording
The maximum recording quality of its main rear camera is 8K UHD (7680 x 4320) footage at 24 frames per second (Only support H.265), or 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) footage at 30/ 60 frames per second.
Read Vivo V25 Pro: Detailed Review with Key Specifications
The second rear camera is capable of 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) footage at 30 frames per second or 1080p FHD video recording at 30 / 60 frames per second. You can also record 720p HD video footage at 30/60 frames per second. Its primary 50MP and ultra-wide 13MP cameras can shoot in 4K UHD with HDR10+.
Moreover, the back sensors of ROG Phone 6D provides camera 3-axis electronic image stabilization. The time-lapse feature is available for shooting a 4K UHD video. Slow motion videos can be done for recording 1080p footage at 240/120 frames per second or 720p footage at 480 frames per second. While filming a video, this device allows you to take a still picture.
Front Camera
The front 12-megapixel camera has 27.5mm equivalent lens length. This 35mm film camera shoots respectable selfies. However, its performance deteriorates as the light decreases. It offers a portrait mode with adequate edge recognition. Nevertheless, the overall performance is satisfactory, and casual users will be pleased with the outcomes.

Performance
This phone's hardware specifications are almost identical to other pro-level devices. The ROG Phone 6D is powered by the most recent Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 combined with Mediatek Dimensity 9000+ CPU and Mali-G710 GPU. This phone is equipped with a huge 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage space.
While watching games or media, the users may often experience that the top portion of a phone becomes heated since that's where the main hardware is located. Heating issues are typical in many phones, when the device is used for an extended period.
Thanks to Asus for making the ROG Phone 6D’s interior design is a little special as a gaming phone. Asus has split the battery and placed the processor in the middle of the device. This implies that the battery is not concentrated on one end like other regular phones. This special architecture is meant to allow for improved cooling; so that if the device gets heated up, you won't feel it beneath your fingertips while gaming.

Battery Life
Asus ROG Phone 6D is blessed with a high-capacity battery with an equivalent capacity of 6000 mAh that supports PD Charging.
The battery capacity of the ROG Phone 6D is split between two symmetrical cells, each of which has a capacity of 3000 mAh. The decision to divide the cells was taken for a few different reasons: first, to distribute the battery's significant weight more equally; second, to reduce the amount of heat generated while it is being used and when it is being charged.
Price of Asus ROG Phone 6D
The Asus ROG Phone 6D hasn't officially been launched in India or Bangladesh, and however, the phone is unofficially available in both countries at special rates. In India, the phone charges around INR 59,999, meaning the unofficial Bangladeshi version will charge around BDT 75,000. The conversion rate here is 1 INR = 1.24 BDT.

Conclusion
The ROG Phone 6D is a monster of a phone, filled with features that appeal primarily to gamers while providing a fantastic experience for regular users. The look is a little eccentric, but if you spend a lot of time gaming on your phone, the ROG Phone provides substantial benefits.
The phone has Qualcomm's flagship Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor along with Mediatek Dimensity 9000 chipset. It is loaded with an array of powerful cooling and control capabilities typical of ASUS gaming smartphones. In addition to a superior display, enough processing power, speakers, and software enhancements are designed to improve your gaming experience. It seems that the Taiwanese powerhouse Asus has opted to streamline its portfolio for the current year. ROG Phone 6D seems to be an intriguing option for the most avid mobile gamers due to its extensive features.
However, for this ROG Phone, Asus offers only two years of software upgrades facility, which can be a drawback. The camera configuration of this latest Asus gaming phone is not much advanced. Other than that, you would be pleased to utilize the Asus ROG Phone 6D constantly.

Xiaomi Redmi 11 Prime Review: Performance at a budget price
Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi focuses on value additional devices since its inception. While the Mi lineup focuses on the higher mid-range to flagship devices, the Redmi line takes a budget to mid-range approach. Redmi’s latest 11 series brought a range of devices ranging from entry-level to mid-range segments. Xiaomi's Redmi 11 Prime was launched in India on 6th September 2022. This budget phone aims to bring incredible value for money to users. Let's take a detailed look at the key specs, pros, and cons of Redmi 11 Prime.
Xiaomi Redmi 11 Prime Key Specifications
Design and Build Quality
The design of the Redmi 11 Prime isn’t really reminiscent of the previous iterations. Redmi has always experimented with the design elements and users got a new design tone almost every year. This year, the 11 Prime is no different with its rectangular camera housing and diamond textured back.
The body of the 11 Prime is completely made out of plastic. This was no surprise given the budget and previous material choices from Redmi. But what came as a surprise is the Gorilla Glass 3 on the front. This is definitely something that will give an edge to 11 Prime against its competitors.

The usual ports and buttons are all here. Unsurprisingly the power buttons act as the fingerprint sensor and the 3.5 mm headphone jack also retains its place on the device. There’s no stereo speaker on the device but the bottom-firing speaker is quite loud and crisp.
The starting variant of the device comes with just a 64 GB ROM option. But thankfully, there’s an additional microSDXC slot to compensate for the onboard storage.
Redmi 11 Prime is available in three colors – playful green, flashy black, and peppy purple. The colors are as vibrant as their names. Overall, the Redmi 11 Prime doesn’t really reinvent anything. Instead, it makes the existing props better to put forth a value-for-money device, both design, and build-wise.

Display
The 6.58-inch display on the Redmi 11 Prime is an IPS LCD one with a 90 Hz refresh rate. The 90 Hz refresh rate isn’t actually controllable as Redmi optimizes this feature according to level-of-uasage. It's more like a dynamic refresh rate which will change depending on how the user interacts with the device.
The panel also boasts 400 nits brightness. While this isn’t technically very bright, outdoor legibility is still okay to some extent. But the 240Hz display looks much better indoors compared to outdoors.
Speaking of the quality itself, it’s a decent 1080P panel with a good pixel density. The colors look sharp and warm in a typical Redmi fashion. Viewing angles are also great. For a 1080P LCD panel, Xiaomi has really nailed it here.

The market for ultra-budget devices is already saturated. But it's no surprise that Redmi 11 Prime probably pulled off one of the best panels from the lot.
Camera
We have 3 sensors in the camera department. The main sensor is a 50 MP one with two additional 2 MP depth and macro sensors. In a typical budget marketing style, the two additional sensors are mostly for show and the “triple camera” tag. It's clear that almost all the tasks will fall on the main 50 MP sensor.

Those who are looking for a decent portable projector can choose it. The projector measures 4.5 x 5.9 x 5.9 inches (115 × 150 × 150 mm) and weighs 2.8 lbs (1.3 kg).

The Xiaomi Mi Smart Projector 2 comes packaged in only white plastic, with a front portion covered in a gray fabric. The projector comes with an average look, so it won’t overshadow the output signal it originates from, and you can match this gadget easily with your home décors and appliances.
The Mi Smart Projector 2 has the least connectivity possible with what it has to connect: HDMI 2.0, USB 2.0, and audio output for headphones. Thanks to its Android TV OS compatibility and its ability to cast to connected displays. This project works fine for basic connections. However, if you wish to use entertainment devices connected to HDMI, you will likely need a converter or another device.
120 Inch Large Screen
The most exciting feature of the Xiaomi Mi Smart Projector 2 is that it sports a large screen. It can display up to a 120-inch screen at a 1.2:1 throw ratio. Not to mention, large screens work quite effectively at displaying large pictures, movies, and games than those with smaller screen sizes. Additionally, they are also more efficient, providing more brightness and contrast when projecting images.

Display Quality
The Xiaomi Mi Smart Projector 2 offers superb picture quality and a tremendous screen if you have the space to accommodate its maximum 120-inch display, where it achieves its maximum distance of three meters from a huge surface.
This projector comes with four-channel LED RGB+BP brightness improvement technology with HDR decoding, which makes the colors feel more real.
However, this projector doesn’t generally make the pictures bright enough to fight the existing ambient lights in a room. To increase the odds of obtaining a bright image from the projector, you need to place the projector in a room with a low chance of sunlight entering through the windows or use this gadget at night.

This Mi Smart Projector 2 will fit 1920 X 1080 pixels pictures only. However, it can’t deliver 4K images. At this degree of quality, you will find it difficult to find a better picture from any projector. As an alternative, you can examine the attributes of more luxurious televisions at this value point. Overall, the display quality is decent compared to other projectors in the market.

Xiaomi POCO M5 Review: Budget gaming phone with elegant design
POCO was founded in 2018 as a sub-brand of Xiaomi. In recent years, the company has started its journey as an independent brand and launched a bunch of quality Smartphones. With their ‘M’ series line-up phones, POCO has captured the budget mid-range market. POCO M5, the latest in this line, debuted in India on 13th September 2022. In this device, POCO brings impressive design and internal upgrades. Let’s take a look at the key features of the Xiaomi POCO M5.
Key Specifications of Xiaomi POCO M5
Design and Build Quality
The design of the POCO M5 is clearly its strongest and most interesting aspect. Anyone familiar with smartphones would know the distinct brand representation of the three-point camera system on the iPhone or the horizontal visor on the Pixel.
The M5 is a mix of both these design elements and then some more. The device itself is completely made from plastic with a faux leather texture on the back. The texture is only appealing visually as it still feels like plastic on the hand.
Read Apple's iPhone 14 Review: A revamped iPhone 13?
There is a stretched-out visor on the back that houses the camera module and the large POCO branding. The two main sensors are aligned vertically with a small secondary one placed on the vertices.
As an entry-level mid-range device, users will be getting all the usual ports and button choices. Interestingly, the headphone jack is positioned on the top of the device in a typical POCO fashion.
The side-mounted power button doubles as the fingerprint scanner. Other features like micro SDXC, dual sim, and USB Type C 2.0 are all present on the M5. At almost 8.9 mm in thickness, the device easily falls on the chunky side. But much of that has been offset by the boxy design which gives it a more premium and durable hand feel.
Read Walton Primo HM7 Review: Midrange processor in ultra-budget device
Overall, the design of the M5 is innovative with s sturdy plastic build. While it's not market disrupting in any way, it still poses a good value for its price.
Display
The front of the M5 features a 6.58-inch 1080P IPS LCD panel with a 90 Hz refresh rate. It’s just another average IPS panel with the only mentionable feature being the 90 Hz refresh rate. The high refresh rate is becoming increasingly common in the budget mid-range segment as it definitely elevates the overall user experience.
However, one of the quirks with the panel is that it has a max brightness of 500 nits. Without a dedicated HBM, it becomes a tad bit difficult to view the phone at max brightness in direct sunlight. The problem only gets compounded since it's an LCD panel.
Read Oppo A57 Review: Key specs, pros and cons
The colors and contrasts looked decent on the M5 display. Just like all its predecessors, the colors appeared to be on the warmer side. The viewing angles are also great with distortion found only at extreme angles.
The display won’t exude the best quality out there. But if you consider what you’re paying, it might still seem like a good option.
Camera
The M5 features three cameras on the back with the main sensor being a 50 MP wide-angle shooter. The other two accompanying lenses are 2 MP depth and macro shooters. It's clear that the additional sensors are just there to increase the sensor count of the camera module rather than actually having any meaningful impact on the overall photography.
Read Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 Review: Multitasking King for Utilitarian Users
As expected, almost all the heavy work is done by the primary sensor. Thankfully, it does an exceptional job.
Colors and details look impeccable from the pixel binned 50 MP shots. The dynamic range is also clearly visible regardless of the subject and light periphery. But that’s the case with almost every smartphone when it comes to well-lit environments.
However, the M5 won’t let you down in artificial or low light as well. While there are still some noises visible in extreme dark shots, the variable shutter speed does an excellent job of exposing the subject to the correct degree. Images look relatively sharp and more pleasing compared to similarly priced devices.
Read Asus ROG Phone 6 Review: Pros, cons of the hardcore gaming beast
The videography of the M5 is limited to 1080P at 30 fps. While the main sensor is capable of more than that, it’s the processor which is the main constraint. There is also a 5 MP selfie shooter. It’s a generic lens and one that can be found in most entry-level devices.
Overall, the M5 won’t compete with higher-end mid-ranges like the Samsung A series when it comes to performance. But it certainly created a space for itself in its price bracket.
Processor and Performance
The POCO M5 is powered by a MediaTek Helio G99 processor based on the 6 Nm architecture. Previously POCO has used the Dimensity 900 processor on their M series devices. This is the first time that the brand went with Helio processors and there is a good reason for that. The octa-core 2 2.2 GHz Cortex-A76 and 6 2.0 GHz Cortex-A55 might seem slightly above entry level. But MediaTek has specially optimized this processor for gaming.
Read realme Pad Mini Review: Is it a worthy budget iPad mini of android?
The device can run the day-to-day tasks smoothly thanks to the efficient core design and in part to the 90 Hz smooth refresh rate making transitions and animations even more fluid.
The device can run the latest multiplayer games like COD, PUBG, and Asphalt 9 at 'Max' settings. Not to mention, the capability of a device of this budget to run 3D graphics-intensive games at max settings is surprising. However, the processor cannot bear the toll for long as throttling kicks in after about 30 minutes of gaming. So, it's better to run games with 'Medium' settings as it will give the best performance.
To wrap up the performance of the M5, it definitely punches above its weight.

Battery and Charge Time
The POCO M5 has been equipped with a 5000 mAh battery. On ideal usage, the device can easily last a full day. To make things even sweeter, there is an included 18 W charger on the box.
Price of Xiaomi POCO M5
The official price of the POCO M5 is 12,499 Rs in India which is roughly equivalent to 14,735 BDT (1 INR = 1.18 BDT). POCO M5 is not officially available in Bangladesh yet. However, the official price of POCO M5 in Bangladesh may vary depending on availability, tax, and other policies.
Final Words
The latest M5 is a budget device from POCO. This device brought some refreshing changes to the design aesthetics, camera, and overall performance of the device. However, the display could’ve definitely been better as it lacks enough outdoor brightness.

So, who should buy the M5? Anyone looking for a solid budget device can easily go for it. And for people looking for a gaming fix on the cheap, the Xiaomi POCO M5 is currently the best deal out there hands down.
Apple's iPhone 14 Review: A revamped iPhone 13?
There aren’t many phones that command the same level of global attention as the iPhone does. The iPhone 14 series was launched on September 7th, 2022. Does the Apple iPhone 14 go for a big leap forward? Or is it just another incremental update? Let’s find out.
Key Specifications of Apple iPhone 14
Design and Build Quality
This year, the iPhone has scrapped its mini lineup as leaks and rumors suggested. Instead, users got a Plus variant of the device which has a similar dimension to the Pro Max with the internals of the 14.
Coming back to the iPhone 14, the design and build quality remains exactly the same here. Dimension-wise, the device is about 0.1 mm thicker than the iPhone 13 at 7.8 mm thickness. The change is almost impossible to notice in day-to-day use. And while this might feel like a design stagnation, there is more to it than the obvious.
Read iPhone 14 launch: What are the new features?
We spoke about how high-end ultra tech is coming at a saturation point and how it’s impossible to introduce breakthrough features in every generation.
The iPhone 13 series was the pinnacle of technology last year. And even though we have moved a year forward, the design and the internals are still relevant by 2022 standards.
Users will be getting the exact same external ports and button selection on the iPhone 14. However, the USA variant of the device has introduced a dual e-sim option. Meaning there won’t be any physical sim slot on the USA variant of the device.
Read Oppo A57 Review: Key specs, pros and cons
Other region-specific models will feature physical sim slots with the Chinese variant featuring a dual nano sim option instead of the e-sim.
Overall, the iPhone 14 brings nothing new on the hardware end of things. And while it might sound boring, it is not necessarily a bad thing. Why fix something that isn’t broken?
Display
The replicative nature from last year has trickled into the display of the iPhone 14 as well. As expected from the hardware dimensions, the display of the iPhone 14 is the exact same 6.1-inch panel found on the iPhone 13.
Read Top 10 mobile phones coming to Bangladesh in September 2022
The display itself is a Super Retina XDR OLED panel from Apple. If the name wasn’t mouthful enough, the panel itself has been absolutely stacked with features. It supports HDR 10 content along with Dolby Vision. In High Brightness Mode, the display can churn out up to 800 nits with a peak brightness of up to 1200 nits.
This makes the panel easily legible outdoors even under direct sunlight. The front is protected by scratch-resistant ceramic glass along with an oleophobic coating to keep smudges and fingerprints away.
The display of iPhones has always been top-notch. They are the only other brand that can directly compete with Samsung in terms of color, quality, and overall dynamics. The panel itself has excellent viewing angles, vivid colors, and a very responsive touch sampling.
Read Vivo V25 Pro: Detailed Review with Key Specifications
Overall, even though there’s nothing new on display tech, it's still one of the best displays in any budget range right now.
Camera
The iPhone 14 features a dual 12 MP camera on the back. Seeing the 12 MP main sensor on the 14 might be a letdown for many as the iPhone has finally upgraded the main sensor to a 48 MP one on the Pro models.
The camera system on the 14 is exactly the same with albeit slightly better performance. The performance upgrade comes from the software optimization of the iOS 16 and general post-processing optimization.
Read iPhone 14 launch: Game-changing emergency services via satellite
The main sensor still features dual-pixel PDAF as well as a sensor shifting OIS which aids in the insane video stabilization on the iPhone 14.
The picture quality is still much superior to any competitor in its price bracket. The colors look sharp with a detailed dynamic range no matter what the lighting condition is. The variable shutter speed allows for smoother low and extreme low light images. Users would be hard-pressed to find grains or noises in artificial or low-light images.
Moving on to the videography, the phone can shoot at 4K at 60 fps in max settings. But the most impressive feature is the cinematic mode which hyper stabilizes videos to provide cinema-like video projections.
Read Android 14 to feature satellite connectivity support
The front camera is also the standard 12 MP like last year. The pictures look great with their details and sharpness. The cinematic mode has also been added to the front camera which is the only notable upgrade here.
Overall, the camera will churn out a bit more than last year’s iPhone 13. And no matter how you look at it, it's still an excellent camera system in its price bracket.
Processor and Performance
Perhaps the most shocking aspect regarding the iPhone 14 is the use of A 15 Bionic chipset, the same that was used on last year’s iPhone 13 and 13 Pro series.
Read International Roaming: How to use a Bangladeshi SIM card abroad
We have seen before that both the pro and the non-pro variant get the same processing power. But with the 14 series, Apple is creating a clear distinction in terms of processing power as well.
While the Pro series comes with a more enhanced A 16 Bionic, users opting for the cheaper 14 series will only be getting A 15. And much of that has to do with performance and global chip shortage rather than just a strategic move.
Over the years, Apple has produced chipsets that are far superior to any competitor in the market by a clear margin. And the gap has only widened in recent years with the Bionic series. So even though A 15 might seem like last year’s chip, it'll be powerful enough to power through anything that’s thrown at it.
Read Top 8 International Sim Cards in Bangladesh
The 5 Nm Hexa-core processor used 2 high-powered chips and supported 4 mid-tier chips. On paper, the A 15 falls slightly short of the A 16. Apple claims that the A 15 is still better than any android competitor chipset released in 2022 so users shouldn’t worry much about the performance.
You’ll get the same lighting, fast performance, smooth animations, and a proven chipset that can blaze through even the most demanding tasks.
Battery and Charge Time
the iPhone's battery amount isn’t the best indicator of its performance. Even though the iPhone 14 features a 3279 mAh battery, the high optimization of the A 15 allows the device to run for 8 to 10 hours continually. The device also has fast charging capabilities which can go from 0 to 50% in 30 minutes with supported fast chargers.

Price of iPhone 14
The base variant of the iPhone 14 with 128 storage options comes at 799 USD which roughly translates to 83,458 BDT ( 1 USD = 104.45). However, the pricing may vary depending on supply tax and other policies when it becomes available in Bangladesh.
Final Words
Like every year, Apple’s September event 2022 has been designated to launch the latest iPhone series. But with tech reaching a saturation point, it’s becoming increasingly difficult, even for Apple, to come up with a notable and significant upgrade.
The iPhone 14 doesn’t really bring anything new to the iPhone lineup. In fact, the device is like a repackaged version of last year’s iPhone 13. While many might think of this as Apple becoming complacent, it still brings an overall package that can hardly be beaten at its price point. Speaking of price, it’s the same as last year so that’s another thing to consider as well.
Read Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 Review: Multitasking King for Utilitarian Users
Overall, the Apple iPhone 14 might feel like the same run-off-the-mill iPhone. But for anyone wishing to jump to iOS or upgrade from anything before iPhone 11, now’s the perfect time to grab an iPhone 14.
