A clash between villagers at the sadar upazila's Vabdia village left a man dead and 12 others injured on Saturday morning.
The deceased was identified as Lavlu Molla, 35, a resident of the village.
Mizanur Rahman, superintendent of Rajbari police, said the two groups had an altercation over the death of sexagenarian man in the morning.
At one stage, one of the neighbours, Abdul Gafur, hit Lavlu in the head with a bamboo stick, leaving him critically injured.
Later, he was taken to Sadar Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.
Police have detained five people for interrogation over the murder.
