There were also some Bangladeshi-German nationals in the group, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) which facilitated the voluntary return of the European citizens.
A special chartered flight of German government left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the afternoon.
"Team of German Embassy together with EU embassy which organised the chartered flight for Germans and Europeans to Frankfurt. Great help by all Bangladeshi organizations and their people," German Ambassador to Bangladesh Peter Fahrenholtz tweeted.
Meanwhile, EU Ambassador to Bangladesh Rensje Teerink said in a tweet, "Today, the EU in Bangladesh provided support to repatriate some 110 European citizens from Bangladesh.”
She deeply thanked the Bangladesh airport and immigration authorities for their precious help in facilitating this chartered flight.
The German Ambassador to Bangladesh who came to the airport to see the passengers off said most of these people who left Dhaka were engaged in many development projects in Bangladesh where the work is temporarily suspended due to holidays declared by the Bangladesh government to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
These foreign nationals are expected to return to Bangladesh as soon as the government-declared general holiday gets over, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
There were also some nationals who come to Bangladesh to meet their families and for business purposes.
The German government thanked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for facilitating the process.
