Dhaka, Feb 7 (UNB) – Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) demolished 290 more illegal structures along the Buriganga River on Thursday, the third and final day of the 2nd phase drive.
With this, a total of 1,199 establishments were pulled down from the banks of the river in two phases of the drive.
The BIWTA started the drive on the third day around 10:30am which continued till 4pm in Kamalbagh and Loharpool Chata Masjid area in Kamrangirchar.
In the first-phase drive on January 29-31, the authorities dismantled some 444 illegal establishments while the second-phase drive started on February 5.
The three-day third-phase drive will begin on February 12.
