The arrestees include ‘drug godfather’ Golam Faruque and his wife Afroza Akhter Anny.
The arrest was made during separate drives, said assistant superintendent of police (media) of CID headquarters Sharmin.
During the drives, the CID team also unearthed information about valuable assets.
Faruque and his close associate Bhuttu were presented at a briefing at the CID headquarters by Special Super (Organised Crime) of CID Mollah Nazrul.
Nazrul said Faruque and Bhuttu had long been running illegal drug trade in Mirpur and Badda areas.
CID arrested them based on a tip-off, he added.
Besides, the specialised anti-crime unit got information about their huge amount of illegal money, the CID official said.
The arrestees were accused in eight cases, including of drug and money-laundering, filed with Teknaf Solice Station in Cox’s Bazar district, he said, adding that they will appeal to the court to confiscate their wealth.
