Bagerhat, Dec 21 (UNB) – Deputy Commissioner of the district Tapan Kumar Biswas has allegedly been threatened with dire consequences if he does not perform his duty neutrally during the forthcoming general election.
The threat was issued through a letter which reached the DC on Thursday, Tapan said while talking to reporters on Friday afternoon.
He also informed the matter to the police super of the district.
“We’re requesting you to be neutral within three days and you must to be neutral or (face) action. Your family, relatives and property will be hit extremely,” reads the letter.
The DC said, “I’m not afraid as I’ve taken all measures to hold the election in a free and fair manner in the district. I’m confident that I’m working neutrally.”
SP Pankaj Chandra Roy said security of the DC has been beefed up following the threat.
He also said different intelligence agencies were investigating the matter.
