“Even it (Bangladesh) could have been more developed than South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia and Japan. Bangabandhu had that patriotism and zeal and he always dreamt big,” he said.
The minister was addressing a seminar arranged by Bangladesh Film Archive marking the National Mourning Day and 44th anniversary of the martyrdom of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Hasan Mahmud, however, said though Bangabandhu could not get the scope to fulfill the dream, his daughter is unleashing development which he dreamt of.
Drawing a similarity between the flags of Bangladesh and Japan – red on green and red on white, he said Bangabandhu followed the densely populated but amazingly developed nation of Japan as a role model of development.
Bangabandhu’s killers tried to push the country back into the pre-liberation era and stop development but his daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is now materialising his dream.
Information Secretary Abdul Malek shed light on the life and works of Bangabandhu at the event presided over by BFA Director General Bidhan Chandra Karmakar.
