The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) detained five Bangladeshis along Khorchaka border in Godagari upazila on Friday morning.
The detainees are – Rajon Hossain, 25, son of Selim Reza; Sohel, 27, son of Monibul; Kabil, 25, son of late Kalu; Shahin, 35, son of late Rafiqul; and Shafiqul, 30, son of Allam.
Paba’s Haripur Union Parishad Chairman Rejab Al Hasan Monjil said they went to graze their cows in the border area when BSF took them away. All of them are residents of Gamabona village in Paba upazila.
One of them was tortured by the BSF members, he said quoting locals.
Rajshahi BGB 1 Commander Lt Col Ferdous Ziauddin Mahmud said they are aware about the development.
“We’ve written to BSF for a flag meeting which might take place on Saturday,” he said. “The Bangladeshis will be brought back through flag meeting.”
