The High Court (HC) summoned the law officer of National Board of Revenue (NBR) to appear before it on March 11, to explain the reasons behind not installing chemical testing units at different ports of the country.
The bench of Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan and Justice KM Kamrul Kader passed the order.
Advocate Manzil Murshid stood on behalf of the petitioners, Human Right and Peace for Bangladesh (HRPB) while Deputy Attorney General Abdullah Al Mahmud Basar represented the state.
The HC on February 29, 2012, ordered to install chemical testing units at all ports of the country within six months for testing imported fruits, after hearing a writ petition by HRPB.
Last year on June 23, HRPB again sought directive from the HC as its previous order was not implemented properly.
