A 10-year-old physically challenged boy was charred to death in a fire that broke out at his house in Alipur area of Chandpur's Shahrasti upazila on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Sohan, son of day labourer Rabiul Alam of the area.
Rabiul Alam said Sohan was alone in the house as everyone in the family went to join a lunch party.

Locals brought the fire under control before the Shahrasti Fire Service team reached the spot.
Later, firemen visited the spot and pulled out the charred body of the boy from the house, said Ali Ahmed, station officer of Shahrasti Fire Service and Civil Defence.

Fire Service officials suspect that the fire might have originated from an electric short circuit.
A probe has been ordered to ascertain the exact cause of the fire, the officer said.
