DNCC sources said some 10,738 houses were inspected in the 36 wards during the fifth day of the combing drive today. In each of the 194 cases where the larva was found, stickers were attached near the entrance gate containing the warning: “Ai barite Aedes moshar larva pawa jai” (Aedes mosquito larva found here).
Besides, conditions friendly for the breeding of Aedes aegypti, such as clear, still water were found in some 6,348 houses and establishments on Thursday– these were subsequently destroyed.
Actual larva of Aedes aegypti has so far been found in 1,223 out of 53,232 locations inspected during the first five days of the combing drive that started August 25. Besides, breeding grounds in 27,483 houses and establishments were destroyed during the period, said DNCC Public Relation Officer ASM Mamun.
