Noakhali, Jan 1 (UNB) – Safura Khatun, wife of former Awami League president and former Speaker Abdul Malek Ukil, died of old-age complications at a hospital in the capital on Tuesday. She was 89.
She breathed her last at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University in the afternoon, said family sources.
Safura left behind two sons, five daughters and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn her death.
She will be buried by the grave of her husband Malek, a close associate of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, by the Maijdee Court Mosque following a namaz-e-janaza after Zohr prayers on Wednesday.
