A hailstorm coupled with gusty wind lashed Sylhet and Moulvibazar districts on Sunday, damaging crops and valuables.
In Sylhet, nearly one hundred people were injured as the hailstorm with gusty wind swept through the district on Sunday.
The glasses and window panes of different vehicles including private cars, microbus, CNG run autorickshaws were also broken as several big size hail fell on the vehicles during the storm.
People who took shelter on roadside shops were also injured during the storm.
Some people on social networking site Facebook posted with comment that such a hailstorm was not seen in Sylhet before.
According to the Gopalganj upazila Health Complex, around 100 people were injured when the big chunks of hail fell on them during the storm at night.
A number of people were seen gathered at the health complex and took medical treatment.
The injuries were mostly to people's heads, foreheads, neck and hands.
Sudarshan Sen, Health and Family Planning officer of the health complex, said 40 people were given first aid, and the condition of three were stated to be critical. They were sent to Sylhet Osmani Medical College and Hospital.
In Moulvibazar, a vast tract of Boro paddy crop was damaged as small and medium size hails accompanied rain around 9 pm on Sunday.
The glass windows on homes and vehicles, tin-roof houses, were also damaged while a number of trees were also damaged during the hailstorm.
Besides, a number of people who took shelter on roadside houses were also injured by the hail that fell on them.
Shamsuddin Ahmed, deputy director of Department of Agriculture Extension, said 70 hectares of boro paddy lands and 30 hectares of vegetables were damaged during the hailstorm.
Md Mujibur Rahman, observatory of Srimangal Weather Observatory Centre, said the local Met Office recorded 12mm of rainfall on Sunday while 2mm till Monday morning.
