Jahangirnagar University, Oct 3 (UNB) – A faction of students and teachers of Jahangirnagar University (JU) continued their strike for the second consecutive day on Thursday demanding resignation of Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Farzana Islam.
The protesters under the banner of ‘Jahangirnagar against corruption’ staged sit-in in front of the old and new administrative buildings.
Later, they also blocked all the entrances of these buildings around 7:30 am, barring the teachers and administrative officials from entering the buildings.
Prof Raihan Raen, a spokesperson of the protestors, said they will send a letter to the Chancellor (President Abdul Hamid) highlighting the logic of their demand.
“We will also inform him about the VC’s corruption,” he added.
Meanwhile, another faction of teachers, under the banner of ‘Bangabandhu Teachers Council’ held a mass-contact programme stating that the allegations of corruption brought against the VC are false and motivated.
