Jahangirnagar University Student Teacher Unity Platform organised a procession and rally around 12 pm in front of the Rabindranath Tagore Hall on the campus in this regard.
During the rally, Prof Manosh Chowdhury of Anthropology department said the university campus have enough land where the new infrastructural plan can be implemented without destroying the nature or cutting down the age old trees on the campus. But the authority is failing to spot them.”
The authorities also don’t disclosing the infrastructural plan with other stakeholders, he alleged.
Zaynul Abedin Shishir Joint Convenor of the Bangladesh General Student Rights Protection Council said the administration only disclosed about construction of six residential halls but all the master plans of 23 infrastructures should be made public.
Earlier, Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) allotted Tk 1445.35 crore for the infrastructural development of the university and the administration has been constructing the five halls as a part of the mega-project to be executed by the allocated money.
