The massive fire that broke out at a godown of a jute mill in Rupsa upazila of Khulna on Friday evening has been brought under control after more than two hours of frantic efforts.
The fire started around 5:45pm in the warehouse of Popular Jute Mill in Rajapur area under the upazila, said Md Faruk Hossain Sikdar, assistant director of Khulna Fire Service and Civil Defence department.

On information, eight firefighting units rushed to the spot and brought the flame under control around 7:50 pm, he added.
The reason behind the fire and the extent of damage are yet to be ascertained, Faruk Hossain said.
