In Natore, a man was awarded death sentence as he killed his wife and fed her flesh to wild foxes in Amirganj area of Sadar upazila in 2012.
Judge of the acting District and Session’s Judge Court Saifur Rahman passed the verdict with the convict, Afsr Uddin, present on the dock.
According to the prosecution, Afsar killed his wife after taking her to Kistapur in the name of seeing a doctor on August 16, 2012 suspecting her of adultery. Later, he dumped the body in a jute field and waited for three nights to watch that wild foxes eat her body.
Police recovered the remains of the body 12 days after the murder.
In Kishoreganj, seven people, including three siblings, were sentenced to life imprisonment for killing a man over land dispute at Shekherhati village in Astagram upazila.
The lifers are Mangu Mia, Jangu Mia and Manju Mia, sons of Siddique Mia, Manju’s son Dulu Mia, Enayet Mia, his son Kajal Mia and Kakon Mia.
Judge of the Additional District and Session’s Judge Court Muhammad Abdur Rahim delivered the judgment and also fined each of the convicts Tk 3 lakh.
Of them, Manju was tried in absentia.
According to the case prosecution, the convicts hacked Abbas Ali of Shekherhati village in the upazila to death on July 23, 2005.
Victim’s brother-in-law filed a case with Asthagram Police Station in this regard.
