The decision was taken at the 'Police Headquarters Quarterly Conference' held at the Police Headquarters on Thursday with Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammad Javed Patwary in the chair.
The conference was held in two phases. In the first phase, officials from the rank of AIG and above at the police headquarters apprised the field level officers of policing and administrative issues.
In the second phase, field level officials presented their activities before the senior police officers.
The meeting was attended by deputy inspectors general (DIGs) of all ranges, commissioners of metropolitan units and superintendents of police (SPs) of districts.
The meeting discussed various issues, including the celebrations of the ‘Mujib Borsho’, security of the International Mother Language Day on February 21, repression on women and children, especially rape cases, execution of court warrants, filing cases and registering GDs, police clearance, job and passport verification, drugs and people’s confidence in police.
In his speech, the IGP said, "We’re working with a 'zero-tolerance' policy against drugs. We’ve declared a war on drugs. We have to win this war.”
He also directed all SPs to investigate the cases of rape and child abuse attaching highest importance.
The IGP said the verification for police clearance, job and passports should be completed with utmost importance and reports should be submitted in the fastest possible time. “In this case, everyone should ensure that no one is harassed.”
The meeting was attended by Principal of Bangladesh Police Academy, Sarda, Rajshahi Mohammad Najibur Rahman, Rab Director General Benazir Ahmed, Additional IG (A&O) Dr Md Mainur Rahman Chowdhury, Additional IG Abdus Salam of Industrial Police, DMP Commissioner Mohd Shafiqul Islam, SB Chief Additional IG Mir Shahidul Islam, CID chief Additional IG Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun and chiefs of other units were present.
