This session passed the national budget for 2019-20 fiscal year, supplementary budget for 2018-19 and 7 bills, including Law and Order Disruption (Speedy Trial) (Amendment) Bill, 2019, in its 21 working days.
Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury read out the prorogation order of the President at 8:22pm.
Before reading it out, Dr Shirin sincerely thanked all the MPs, including the opposition ones, for providing all-out cooperation in running the session and reaching a consensus in a ‘unique’ way in upholding the parliamentary democratic practice in the House.
Earlier, Leader of the House and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Deputy Leader of the Opposition Raushon Ershad delivered their winding-up speeches.
However, leader of the opposition HM Ershad, now undergoing treatment at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) could not attend the session due to his illness.
The session began on June 11 while Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal placed the national budget for the fiscal2018-19 in the House on June 13.
During the session, a total of 269 MPs participated in budget discussions for 55 hours and 36 minutes on the new budget.
The session received 235 notices under Section 71 of the Rules of Procedure of which 12 were accepted and five discussed in the House.
Besides, 75 notices were discussed for two minutes under Section 71 (Ka) of the Rules of Procedure.
A total of 93 questions were received for the Prime Minister, of which she replied to 41 ones in the session.
The session received a total of 2,274 questions for different ministers, state ministers and deputy ministers, and they responded to 1,658.
