Under the banner of Jahangirnagar Against Corruption, a joint platform of students and teachers of the university, they besieged the administrative buildings around 8am.
They continued the programme till 4pm, hampering the administrative activities.
On Tuesday, the platform announced the siege programme from a press conference at the Teachers’ Lounge of the New Arts building of the university.
Prof Jamal Uddin (Runu) claimed that a faction of Awami League-backed teachers along with those loyal to BNP is also joining their movement.
He also alleged that the JU proctor is trying to stage a drama terming a student of his department as Islamic Chhatra Shibir man.
Ariful Islam Anik, general secretary of JU unit Chhatra Union, said they will continue this siege programme until the removal of Prof Farzana Islam.
He said since the VC uses two administrative buildings for her administrative work, they laid siege to both the buildings. “We won’t allow the vice-chancellor to do any kind of administrative work.”
Prof Dr Sayeed Ferdous said the vice-chancellor has no right to be in her post. “She has to be removed from her post. Until our demands are met, we’ll continue our movement.”
