Cox’s Bazar, Aug 31 (UNB) – A Rohingya man was shot to death by unidentified assailants at Leda Rohingya Camp in Teknaf upazila on Friday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Md Yaser, 25, son of Md Islam of block no. F in the camp, and used to work as a night guard of the camp.
Some unidentified miscreants shot Yaser in front of his room in the camp around 3 pm, leaving him critically injured, said Ranjit Kumar Barua, officer-in-charge of Teknaf Model Police Station.
Later, Yaser was taken to Leda Health Complex where the duty doctor declared him dead, he added.
Meanwhile, Leda Camp Chairman Abdul Matlab said Yaser might have been killed as he earlier helped police to seize huge quantity of Yaba tablets.
Members of the camp also said that Yaser used to work as a source to the local administration office.
