Islamic University, Jul 1 (UNB) – The authorities of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia on Monday formed a three-member probe body to investigate Finance and Banking department Assistant Professor M Ruhul Amin and Electrical and Electronics Engineering department Assistant Professor SM Abdur Rahim over their alleged involvement in a teacher recruitment scam.
IU Vice-Chancellor Professor M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari formed the probe body, headed by IU Arts Faculty dean Professor M Sarwar Murshed, to investigate the teachers’ recruitment scam of Finance and Banking department of the university, IU acting registrar SM Abdul Latif told UNB.
Professor Tapon Kumar Joddar of Information and Communication Engineering department and Professor Ahsanul-Ul-Ambia of Computer Science and Engineering department are the other members of the probe body.
The probe body was asked to submit its report as early as possible, the registrar added.
IU Vice-Chancellor told UNB that they would take legal action against those guilty after getting reports from the probe body.
On June 28, the university authorities suspended the teachers and postponed the board meeting of Finance and Banking department as an audio clip containing a discussion between the accused teachers and a candidate was published in the Daily Jugantor and went viral on social media.
A circular for recruiting a teacher in the Finance and Banking department was published on March 11, 2019.
Ruhul Amin and Abdur Rahim allegedly assured a candidate of appointing him as teacher in the department in exchange for money amounting to Tk 10-18 lakh.
