In an early morning operation on Friday, detectives in Sylhet district apprehended three individuals in possession of 202 sacks of onions, valued at over Tk 10 lakh, at Naiorpool point in the town.
The detainees have been identified as Quamrul Islam, 24; Shukkur Ali, 36; and Shanto, 18, all residents of Goainghat upazila within the district.
Acting on a tip-off, a team from the Detective Branch (DB) of the police halted a truck around 5:30 am, discovering it was transporting 10,302 kg of smuggled Indian onions.

Following the seizure, the three individuals were taken into custody in relation to the smuggling operation.
In connection with the incident, a case has been lodged at Kotwali Model Police Station.
