Nilphamari, Aug 31 (UNB) – Police on Friday morning detained the driver and a helper of a tractor along with around 100 sacks of rice suspecting meant for distribution among the ultra-poor under the vulnerable group feeding (VGF) programme from Bottoli area of Sadar upazila.
The arrestees are driver Bikash and helper Hamid.
Locals detained the tractor along with the rice when a local trader Moynul Islam Nayan brought those to district town from his house and informed the matter to police, said Sub-inspector Hanif of Sadar Police Station.
On information, police seized the tractor along with the sacks and detained the driver and the helper.
However, Nayan said he bought the rice and was taking those to a local madrasa for selling.
