Jashore, Oct 8 (UNB) - Customs officials arrested a young man along with two gold bars, weighing 200 grams, from Benapole check-post in Sharsha upazila on Monday morning.
The arrestee was identified as Saiful Islam Rajib, 27, son of Rafiqul Islam of Moikuli village in Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj district.
Nipun Chakma, Assistant Director of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate at Benapole, said Rajib was going to India through the check-post when a customs team challenged him following his suspicious movement.
At one stage of interrogation, he confessed to carrying gold bars in his bag, Nipun said.
The youth was handed over to Benapole Port Police Station, he said.
