The bank’s credit card customers will be able to donate directly to these organisations, which are active on the frontline of the COVID-19 battle, through their respective websites, according to a press release.
Through this partnership, Standard Chartered Bangladesh will add 5 percent donation, on top of the donation from the Bank’s clients (up to Tk 1,000 per transaction).
Prior to this, Standard Chartered had announced a broad range of support measures for its retail customers and businesses, including loan repayment holidays, fee waivers or cancellations and loan extension facilities.
The Bank has initiated a $1 billion global financing programme for companies that provide goods and services to help the fight against COVID-19.
It has also launched a $50 million fund, aiding communities affected by the pandemic across its global footprint, including Bangladesh.
Head of Retail Banking, Standard Chartered Bangladesh Sabbir Ahmed said, "Over the coming days, we will be launching more initiatives to support the most affected communities tackle this unprecedented global health crisis.”
