The final, scheduled for Friday at Bangabandhu National Stadium, was cancelled due to rough weather.
Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) Senior Vice-President and tournament organising committee spokesmen Abdus Salam Murshedy confirmed the declaration.
He said that the local and the tournament organising committees jointly decided to abandon the match and the prize distribution ceremony due to bad weather.
“Bangladesh and Laos have been declared as the joint champions,” he said.
Murshedy said President Abdul Hamid, who was expected to be the chief guest, cancelled his programme due to bad weather.
The teams will be awarded $20,000 each.
BFF General Secretary Md Abu Nayeem Shohag, women’s wing Chairman Mahfuza Akter Kiron, K-Sports CEO Fahad Karim and Bangladesh U-19 women’s team Manager Amirul Islam Babu and Laos team Manager Galdansukh Tuvshinbayar were also present during the press briefing.
The six-nation meet, named after Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib, kicked-off on April 22.
BFF and K-Sports jointly organised the tournament to celebrate Fazilatunnesa Mujib’s life and ideals. It is the first international football tournament for women arranged by BFF after 2004.
Hosts Bangladesh, Laos, Mongolia, Tajikistan, UAE, and Kyrgyzstan competed in the tournament.
Bangladesh emerged as Group B champions beating the UAE by 2-0 goals in the opening match on April 22 and managed a 2-1 victory over Kyrgyzstan in the second match on April 26.
The hosts reached the final eliminating Mongolia by 3-0 goals in the second semifinal on April 30.
On the other hand, Laos started their campaign with a 5-0 win over Mongolia and clinched the Group A title thrashing Tajikistan by 6-0 goals on April 27. Laos defeated Kyrgyzstan by 7-1 goals in the first semifinal two days later.
