Bangladesh Navy emerged champions in the four-day Max Group 32nd National Swimming, Diving and Water Polo Competitions'2023 that concluded here at the Syed Nazrul Islam National Swimming Complex in Mirpur on Thursday.
The sailors team clinched the top slot in the national swimming meet securing 35 gold, 24 silver and 15 bronze medals.
Bangladesh Army finished distant 2nd with eight gold, 17 silver and 18 bronzes, BKSP was placed 3rd with one silver and nine bronzes and Bangladesh Police became 4th with one bronze medal.
A total of six new records were bettered in the four-day meet featuring one national record in the 4th and final day (Thursday) in nine swimming and one Water Polo event.

Samiul Islam Rafi of Bangladesh Navy, who earlier made national record in the men's 50-meter and 200-meter back strokes, set his 3rd national mark in the men's 100-meter back stroke with a timing of 58.45 to improve his own old record of 59.83 made in 2022.
Earlier, Jewel Ahmed of Bangladesh Army made record in the men's 1500-meter freestyle, Sonia Khatun of Bangladesh Navy in the women's 100- meter butterfly and Bangladesh Navy team n the men's 200-meter freestyle relay
In the Water Polo Competition, Bangladesh Army emerged champions, Bangladesh Navy finished runners-up and Bangladesh Police became 3rd.

President of Bangladesh Swimming Federation (BSF) and Chief of Bangladesh Navy Admiral M Nazmul Hasan was the chief guest at the day's closing function and later he distributed the prizes
BSF senior vice president and chairman of the meet's sponsor Max Group Engineer Golam Mohammad Alamgir was also present the function as the special guest.
Samiul Islam Rafi of Bangladesh Navy named as the best male swimmer securing three gold medals, all with new national records while Sonia Akhter, also from Bangladesh Navy, was adjudged the best female swimmer collecting five gold and two silver medals to receive trophies.
Besides, the all the record holders swimmers also awarded with prize money of TK 5,000 each.
