Chattogram, Aug 19 (UNB)— Members of upazila fisheries department arrested two persons with 5 lakh prawn fry from a passenger bus at Eco-Park in Sitakunda upazila on Monday afternoon. 

The arrestees were identified as bus driver Bacchu Mia, 29, and his helper Bappi, 27. 

Acting on a tip-off, a team led by Upazila Executive Officer Milton Roy conducted the drive on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway and seized the prawn fry in 27 containers after searching the bus, said Upazila Fisheries Officer Md Shamim. 

Later, in a mobile court, the driver was fined Tk 5,000 for carrying prawn fry as there is a ban in place against it. The prawn fry was being taken to Khulna from Chattogram. 

They were eventually released at Kumira Ghat coastal area. A case would be filed under Protection and Conservation of Fish Act-1950, the officer added.
