Citizen’s Platform for SDGs and Debate for Democracy organized the programme as part of Youth Conference 2018 at Brac Centre Inn Auditorium of the city.
Mentioning that quota is not a permanent solution, Dr Akbar Ali Khan, a former caretaker government advisor and former cabinet secretary, said, “Firstly they must be educated before getting job through quota. Only 4 percent of the total physically challenged people get opportunity of being educated.”
“We have to bring them to the main stream of the society. Everyone must change their aspect about people with physical disabilities. Government should come forward to ensure jobs for them in both government and non-government organisations,” he added.
“Only quota is not a solution, but it is needed,” said Sushasoner Jonno Nagorik (SUJON) secretary Dr. Badiul Alam Mazumdar adding that we have to create a favorable atmosphere for them through proper education system, good health care and suitable work environment.
Debate for Democracy Chairman Hasan Ahmed Chawdury Kiron moderated the program.
