Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal disclosed it while addressing a conference with senior police officials , organized as part of ongoing Police Week 2020, held at Razarbagh Police Lines in the city on Tuesday.
“We have been seen insufficiency of the doctors. If someone (Physician)is posted in any jail, they do not join there. All units/forces under the Home Ministry do not get medical services,” he said.
The Prime Minister gave directions to introduce Police Medical Corps like Army Medical Corps. She had also earlier given the directive, the Home Minister added.
The Army Medical Corps has central medical corps where all forces—Army, Airforce and Navy—have been getting medical services. Like this, a central medical service named “Police Medical Corps” will be set up so that all forces under the Home Ministry would get medical services, he added.
About various demands raised by the police officers in the conference, the Home Minister said many small demands have been met up, while other would be fulfilled in phases.
He said, “We (police) will be considered as successful when people feel that they are under cover of security blanket wherever they go, and also get justice.”
The Home Minister remembered the call of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman who dreamed that the country’s police would be turned into “people’s police”. “I think, we are advancing towards that way slowly and this is our goal.”
Inspector General of Police Dr Mohammad Javed Patwary presided over the meeting where chiefs of all police units were present.
